In order to be able to receive a transplant there are dozens of requirements that BOTH the PATIENT and the ORGAN DONOR MUST TO QUALIFY in order to have a successful Transplant Surgery.

1.-Age
2.-Race
3.-Blood type
4.-Health History
etc,etc,etc.
5.-NOT BEING DEAD ALREADY (Nothing I can think of makes a transplant more difficult than already being dead)

and top of that...there is a HIGH percentage of probability that the Patience's Immunologic System REJECTS the "New" Organ,resulting in several complications,even death.

***Edit*** On second thought, I guess being dead does eliminate all that annoying shit like actually attaching the heart to the person and making sure it isn't rejected. You can just cut him open, drop the fucker in and close him up. Hell, it doesn't even have to be a heart, it can be a bag of chicken gizzards. Probably a lot cheaper too.

I have a friend that's is becoming a doctor at Harvard med why was this man not given a heart transplant, he suggested someone as important as mj why was that not attempted, I see why the family asked for a 2nd autopsy

how can you have a heart transplant if you are already dead by the time you reach the hospital? If you were to get a new heart you would have to have been on machines to keep you functioning while they searched out a new heart for you. Your heart just doesnt go bang and the doctor says oh let me throw in a new one like batteries in your remote. There isnt just a giant surplus of hearts lungs and kidneys laying around in fort knox for celebs when they need them.

Let's not forget about the body rejecting the new heart. I know, my best friend had 2 transplants as a teen.
