If elected, how will Obama's Presidency Directly affect YOU?

I was just thinking about this. Instead of looking up to 50cent, Pdiddy, and Jay Z who promote a thug edge to their image of intelligence, namely on the business side. Many young brothas can drop their thug side and just be intelligent. They can be proud to be smart and realize it is cool being who they are without the thug pose baggage.

AMEN!!!!!!!

Hopefully he can help speed up New Orleans' recovery, most of the city council has it embedded in their minds that the city can not look for the federal government to pull our ass out of the fire, but talk is cheap, and N.O. politicians talk alot of shit. A new president can give all the help in the world, but when council members are going to jail and calling for other people's resignations and your mayor is preoccupied with dumb shit, that money will stay stuck in Baton Rouge and never get 69 miles down the I-10.

The mayoral election of 2010 will be a very vital one, I'm kinda keeping eye on James Carter, he could be a Barak Obama for New Orleans if he runs in 2010, although once again the race will be full of opportunistic whites, Couhig, Landrieu and others. But there needs to be a clear line of communication from Washington to New Orleans for things to work out.

Directly affect me, not much. Biggest affect on me personally will hopefully lead to more tech jobs.

For my Daughter and her brother, they will know that hey can REALLY become president. Baracks presidency, will give the youth something else to aspire to, Hell him being the front runner is doing that. BUT

The day he walks up pennsylvania avenue and enters the white house.... The world will know, that Black men can once again be the most powerful beings on the earth.

Sports will no longer be a way out, music, and dancing will no longer be the only way out, education will truly come to the foreground, even if it takes 2 years.

Manning is gonna burn in hell.

Manning is goig to burn in hell for he is blasphemous...

damn he was tearing down a man for his own gain...

he is not as politically experienced as he may seem Hell Obama been doing his thing in the gov ment, remember the last democratic national convention

while i was watching this i ws saying I wish that I would've been there

but back to the original topic

well I really don't know aside from the community service part and the health care part i don't know

hell that's enough for me

If Obama wins then I'll be able to show my children indisputable proof that black people are capable of achieving anything.

On a personal level, I think that Obama can undo a lot of the damage that George W Bush did in relations between Canada and the US. Being a senator nearer to the Canadian border suggests that he might understand the issues a lot better. For instance, hopefully Obama knows that if (and when) our dollar loses value it's because of a temporary imbalance in the economy, not a national price dumping scam. Bush thought the latter imposed an illegal tariff on Canadian softwood lumber and cost hundreds of Canadian forestry workers their jobs.

I also think that Obama will realize that most Canadians are not terrorists and relax some of homeland's proposed border crossing regulations (i.e. passports for land crossings, retinal scans for truck drivers). If he does the US economy will have a huge benefit, especially in border communities like Bellingham, WA that depend heavily on cross border shopping.

Finally, if Obama can end the war in Iraq, something I think he's willing to do, he will win the Canadian public as well. Almost everyone in the country is deeply opposed to this war, especially when our soldiers are in Afghanistan fighting the REAL terrorists.

it wont...

that's why you get vague answers because it really wont affect your day to day life. people need a civics reality check in the worse way. there are 3 branches of government with assumed checks and balances so anything obama tries to do as president still has to come before congress, which will tear it apart because democrats dont have a true majority. the supreme court is still a republican institution, but can change within a presidency if some members kick the bucket, but minus some executive orders that could impact you in the short term, presidential policy is slow to move and doesn't affect your day to day life.

its also interesting to note that as much pride and esteem we'd get with a black president, we'd get backlash and animosity from other races. this country's race relations are going to be in the shitter

i really do have to laugh at all these people who think little children will be beaming with pride if obama is president. is this before or after reciting all the words to soulja boy's new song? your kid a 50 cent lover instead? my apologies. you think pookie is gonna get off her ass and go be something because we have a black president? she's gonna be so inspired by the positivity beaming from the presidency she'll stop fucking and actually raise her kids?

the klu klux klan will disband as an organization because they've "lost".since we'd have a mixed race president? are you people retards??

black children don't give 2 fucks about politics or anything related to politics, hell it's black history month and most black children..hell most black ADULTS can't name you one important person in black history besides martin luther king and throw rosa parks in for some spice.

do yourselves a favor, if you need a black hero, we have literally millions among us. you don't need someone to be president to have some fucking pride in who we are or what we have the potential to be.

If there has never been a more co-signable quote to date.
This one is Year 2008 CoSign of the year,
.... hopefully cosign 2008-2012

I'll also add that Obama is an inspiring figure. A person who lives inthe psyche of some people. He could be pivotal to some people who need just a little more reinforcement, a little more self-promotion when they think about his story and wouldn't get mire in the "the white man did..." mentality. More black males would hopefully swing from the thug imagery. His marriage and family would hopefully encourage ppl to make better decisions. The Jesse Jacksons and Bill Cosbys who talk a good game (in their private lives) but don't live it would be replaced with a younger guy thats actually keeping it together.

Nope, you are wrong. Up to this point there have been 43 white presidents, these are symbols of what a white child can become. When that history book is opened, when that museum is visited, when pictures of that president is plastered on mugs, curtains, bumper stickers, coins, dollar bills, and all those other material matters---it becomes a living thing, a daily reminder of the possibilities for that white child. When a black child surveys his or her environment for clues to what they can become usually----music stars, athletes, or something in the entertainment field. Yes and the black youth can look up to black symbols of success in numerous fields like in the judicial field, medical, and many others; however there has never been a black president. Barack represents a new possibility of what that child of color can become and talk about with pride at the prospect of their future that truly has no limit.

Amerikkkan Idol you must not be black. You don't know what it's like to be told in school ---Your people were slaves and then there was Dr. Martin Luther King jr. ---- that was it, while almost all of the text book was focused on the accomplishments of white Americans. Barack, again, offers a new hope, a new mindset, a brighter future for black children everywhere.

:lol::lol::lol::lol:

Nigga, I'm very Black, and I'm from one of the Blackest cities in Amerikkka, that's how I know what the fuck I'm talkin' about.

Second of all, you keep assuming that White kids open up history books period. Didn't you see Ms. South Carolina:lol::lol::lol::lol:. That's what AMerikkkan kids sound like. Kids today of all races don't know shit. Most, in every survey taken, can't name the president, vice president, can't find Ohio or Florida on a map, and most couldn't find Iraq, Iran, or Afghanistan on a map. White kids' role models are Paris Hilton, Britney Spears, My Chemical Romance, and the same ones that Black kids look up to. . . Rappers, athletes, and entertainers. I love how you give Amerikkkan kids the benefit of the doubt of actually being intellectually ambitious. They're not.

Manning is gonna burn in hell.

Ha, ha. White people see American Idol and reality shows as their way out and they're white. How many poor rednecks you think, think of politics as their way out? Rich, educated, privileged kids are the ones who become presidents. Bill Clinton's probably the only one in recent history to come from absolutely nothing and become president, which is why he was so grimy. All the rest of them n*ggaz grew up in New England, Orange County and went to places like Yale, Harvard, and grew up at least privileged, at most out and out rich. That's not going to change anytime soon. It's class, even more than race that's keeping us out of the White House. Colin Powell could've been president in '96, 2000, and 2004. He chose not to run, but everybody agrees that he would've killed Clinton, Bush and anybody else.

The problem aint role-models. I don't see kids idolizing Thurgood Marshall. The problem is that Amerikkka's run by the rich and super educated elitists. That's not gonna be changed by Barack Obama, or anybody else, anytime soon. If you're thinking that the Indians who talk about you behind your back, when you go into the Quik-E-Mart, the Mexicans, who hate the fact that you exist, and the Asians, who you get your hair products from, are gonna treat you any different because Obama's in office, then you're insane.

The Africans already believe that he's successful because he's one of them, not one of us. Expect to hear a lot of that, when you start telling Nigerians and other Blacks about how Obama's "Black", like we are.

Like I said earlier. I hope, if he's elected, that he'll clean up Bush's messes, get us out of Iraq sooner, fix the economy, and do his thing. Anybody looking for him to "raise your kids", do something specifically for Blacks, or somehow change "your" status in the world, you're insane.

Perception controls reality. His ability to lead and galvanize folks will trickle down into ALL of our day to day lives. Even if things go wrong, folks will BELIEVE in his ability to make it better. I honestly believe he will be able to accomplish things on a bipartisan scale that NO president has been able to.

A lot of you critical niggas (regarding his impact on Blacks) sound out of touch with ACTUAL Black folks. We believe what we SEE on a day to day basis. A Black family RUNNING THE COUNTRY changes most of our people's perceptions INSTANTLY, and will force us to shift out attention away from the white man onto US. Crackas from coast to coast are supporting this man.

I wonder how the slaves reacted win the FIRST one said he was going to escape, that he DESERVED to be free. Prolly sounded like a lot of yall, damn shame.

OBAMA is killing Billary on the Cuban question.:lol::lol::lol:

What'd they say about Mark Cuban? Nah I'm playing. Nah that's what Obama is all about squeaking by. I'm sure he wish he didn't say he'd meet with people like that in that one debate. Bottom line you have to set these conditions to get a meeting with the Prez... If not then he'll literally have to meet with every country's leader. If its just about meeting potential enemies... then it become's in a country's best interest to potentially be an enemy of the US... I can't ride with him on that one...

Truth be told, I'm already being affected. The effort and success he has been having in his run for the democratic nomination has opened my eyes even wider. I've already had a small measure of success in my short life, but seeing this guy deal with all the crap while keeping a poised and cool demeanor is really getting me fired up. Realize that he may be our generation's MLK/MX, and we have not had anyone like him represent us up until now. Maybe some of these younger black folk will look at him and realize that they don't have to emulate the ingnorance that they see on T.V. each day. I see the collective conscience of black folks in this country shifting from one of apathy and hopelessness to one of positivity and success if he makes it to the White House.

Without going into his policies all i can say is that the world will look at the black man a little different.

We are portrayed in the media all over the world of only being capable of being athletes and entertainers.

I think it will be a psychological boost for little black (and for that matter all minorites) girls and boys. They will see that the most powerful man in the world and his family looks like them and their family.

right on the money newbie....thats what i was thinking?

I think you are missing my point totally. You don't seem to understand the power of symbols in our daily lives. You don't seem to get that Presidents are held in high esteem and if the Presidents are white, then respect comes from that.

THE PRESIDENTS ARE JUST NOT IN TEXT BOOKS:

I think that the morale of the country will change greatly, With bush in office all we go to look forward for was this damn war and higher taxes. I know that no thug will look at obama and decide to stop selling drugs and go to school, some niggas are without hope, people will still use the word nigga as before. The president being black or white is nothing but a poppet. He does as he is told, the only power that a president really have the the power or veto and the power to pardon criminals all the other shit is handle behind the scene. Are we going to have universal health care, ya, better schools maybe, lower taxes, hell naw. Every candidate is making shit look good so they will win, Hit me up 2 years later and find out how many promises obama will break. Same shit different faces.

Yeah, because electing a politician is exactly the same thing as escaping the worst atrocity in human history. Stop. Just stop it.

You don't understand what I'm talking about. How many White kids grow up saying they want to be president, realistically? Do the poor ones, especially? No, because poor kids of all races don't look at politics in general as their way out. Poor people of every race, including whites look at entertainment, sports, and shit like that, because regardless of whatever race he is, he's still an Ivy League educated, privileged dude, raised in Hawaii.

That's who George W. Bush was. That's who John Kerry was. That's who Hillary Clinton was. That's who George Bush Sr. was. That's who Al Gore was. Obama's not changing that. It will still be one of them, though Black running the country

Who is the last president to be put on money???

I'll help you out. It's Kennedy, and that was because he got his brains blew out. That's the only way Obama or anybody else is gonna be put on money anytime soon.
