Ice Cubes' Us. Possibly the realest rap song ever made!

I was just listening to this song and thought that he really hit the nail on the head. There are no songs like this out now and probably won't be. Cube put it down on here and told the truth. Let's see Lil Wayne or Young Joc or Mike or Jim Jones do some shit like this.

They can't.

Y'all sleepin' I guess if this was stuntin' like my gay ass daddy, you guys would be all over this.

Sorry only real hip-hop in this thread.

Before he really started crossing over and his dum, "Wesss- sah-eeed connec" shit, he was politically conscious rapper. This is not a new track, vintage Cube.

peace

I know this is not new. I bought Death Ceritficate when it first came out. I was posting to show these young dumb hip-hop fans what real lyrical content is about. Dude I'm 31, so I know this isn't new. Just putting up some old school shit.

Thats why i dont give much credence to them east coast rap niggas. They
dont acknowledge Cube, 40, DOC, etc..

This was the truth, and still is...

It's a good song, but I've heard deeper ones...........

Artist: Boogie Down Productions
Album: Edutainment
Song: The Racist

I've been taught to respect my elders and behave
Even if when they were young they sold slaves
Truth and understandin' is what I crave
In the land of the thief, home of the slave
Turn your page to a brief demonstration
Cos now in '90 it's strictly information I'm givin'
Teachin' on a regular basis
Today's lecture is about The Racist
We're not out to exaggerate or diss him
But show the symptoms and facts of racism
Understand The Racist ain't equal
There's about five different types of racist people
First of the five different types of cases
Is the individual brought up racist
Here you have young men and women
Brought up in the Great White Way opinion
This opinion introduced by the parent
To the civilised becomes transparent
The civilised man could look through the faces
Make the analysis and see The Racist
Number two case which y'all must hear
Is the individual racist out of fear
Here you have people that fear the African
And conjure up new ways of trappin' him
Number three is the unconscious racist
Not knowin' they're racist they invade your spaces
They say, "I'm not a racist, I'm not a bigot"
Yet they allow it to go on and won't admit it
Number four is the money racist
The one that used the topics of sheer economics
They say, "Owning a business isn't for the black man
He don't want that", yet they went and took his land
Damn, that's like a rock in a hard place
You don't have your land yet this ain't your space
America was built by every other race
Except the European that runs this place
What a waste, America's doomed
To be overthrown by the righteous real soon
But last but not least racial prejudice
Is the black man speakin' out of ignorance
Whitey this and Ching-Chow that
Is not how the intelligent man acts
You can't blame the whole white race
For slavery, cos this ain't the case
A large sum of white people died with black
Tryin' hard to fight racial attacks
The media wants you to think that no whites
Really fought and died for Civil Rights
But once we have a true sense of history
You'll see this too as a mystery
If black and white didn't argue the most
They could clearly see the government's screwin' 'em both.

I didn't say the deepest I said POSSIBLY the realest. Meaning I feel it was real. This is one deep song and it's current today. BDP has some deep shit also. KRS-1 the teacher? Come on you he got some shit for you. That's why he's the teacher. But Ice Cube was on another lever with this shit.

Give him his props. I see none of those Lil Wayne fans have chimed in yet. Probably dumbfounded by the words and complicated flow. They like simple shit like Young Joc.

Yes sir. He spoke the truth in this song. Rappers dont make political songs anymore :smh:
No, they don't and that's why hip-hop is dead.

No one speaks out on anything and are just hoes for the execs. Bought and paid for like horses.

Truth. He spoke the truth. People don't wanna hear this anymore. If they did then Master P would have never blown up. He never made a song with a point in his career.

GOD I am so glad I'm not the only one with this opinion. But all everyone says is "he made his money though"

Thank you for making me feel that I'm not alone in this world that someone out there thinks like me on this.

Yep.. hiphop is dead. Most rappers out have no political concisnes

It seems like the only political rappers we have are Kanye, & Luda but only to an extent.

I also have to give props to NYOIL for his songs "Yall should all get lynched" & "What up my Wigger"

Yes I grew up on Cube. For those who want to hear real shit, download his song called "The Product" and "I wanna kill sam" the latter being a modern day parallel to our trip from Africa to the modern day black US citizen.

Huh?

East coast rappers always gave Cube props.

Mainly Public Enemy (who he toured with) and BDP.

I been on Cube's shit since I was little. Lethal Injection and Death Certificate are my fav's.

Peeps hated when he did his album with Boogie Down; thought he was betraying his west coast roots. But he only went that route because boogie down was known for putting out politically charged music.

I've been a huge Cube fan since day one. (My screen name "Donmega" is a Cube reference). But Damn, I must have missed that album he did with Boogie Down Productions. I got the one he did with Public Enemy / Bomb Squad though...

On a slightly different topic, I thought it was funny when Dre produced "We're All in the Same Gang" and it had a ton of artists on it but no Ice Cube -because he had just left NWA. It's like they were trying to make a song about unity on the song, but they couldn't practiced what they preached by uniting with their former member for the track.

He made his shit with Public Enemy. Not BDP. Yes Ice Cube was the shit. His songs were real and had a panther like feel to them. The young cats still haven't chimed in. I guess this song is too deep for them. Since it's not a mindless club banger.

That's fucking classic!
Exactly.

Ket's see these stank ass rapper of today do this shit.

Niggas say the south is "running shit", well when will they speak up and represent us? When will they stop cooning for the labels? When will they show pride? Katrina comes in and the Gov. does nothing to help for a week and no rapper except Mike Jones does anything? That's sad.

I'm a somewhat young cat but I grew up on Ice Cube, he will always be one of my favorite MC's of all-time. The song "US" was true 10/15 years ago and it's still 100 percent true today :smh:
