In hindsight yes, but at the time nobody knew or expected Friday to be the hit it became. This could have easily gone the other way.

Plus Cube was probably trying to be cautious with his money after everything he went through with NWA and his early solo career.

Hindsight is always 20 -20. Fact remains rightly or wrongly Cube rolled the dice and he lost, relatively speaking. Experience is the best teacher and I'm sure it's a lesson Cube has learned well.
 
Ice Cube was in a prime position and should’ve known better because he wasn’t a known commodity in the film business. He should’ve known better because he got hosed in the music industry the same way previously.

He should do a documentary on the series all with the good and bad instead of another movie dedicate it to the ones who passed away it sad no one believed it would be great that itself a achievement we still love it after all these years you can start with the impact and how the the the other two are viewed but it shows how Hollywood rather leech than make something new

The studio fucked themselves only because at the time scifi flicks wasn't a big genre...they were c-list movies with d-list actors...which is what star wars was at the time it was made... there was no indication that flick with a bunch of unknown actors and one respectable but old british actor was going to do what it did...there was no tent pole summer movie model or merchandising etc at that time... it would take star wars. jaws ET and raiders of the lost ark to create the model studios have been using the last 40 some odd years...

NOW that everything has moved to streaming the time is ripe for another evolution and new model but what that will look like is anybodys guess.

Cube should of did right by the cast members more excluding CTucker cause he's in a different league and isn't coming back.
