I saw The Mist tonight

The Mist was a good movie man. the ending was unexpected but the thing that really will piss you off.. is the fact that IF they woulda waited MAYBE, another 10 minutes.. they all woulda been okay. The thing that got people the most was the lady who asked for help at the beginning survived with both her children...

But coulda, woulda, shoulda.... :smh::smh::smh:

we all already saw that when we we kids
(if you grew up in the 80's) it was called The Fog

I guess this movie is for you little similac babies
just born the other day

saw that joint the other day, the crazy religious chick made you wanna hit someone but they had good points about the mob mentality and how after you take away the cell phones, police and make mofo's fend for themselves people go crazy. The ending fucked everyone in the movie up, made every father in the joint heart drop the fuck out. All in all it made me wanna read the book.....

Man, you guys have been brainwashed into Disney-type endings.

That's why I always dig Japanese movies where the endings aren't always in the classical sense.

This movie's ending resembles Pet Semetary--a damned classic IMO.

It's one of those endings that stays with you. I'm glad a SK movie finally had a fitting ending.

BTW, I would like to agree that the brother dies, even though the rope was never tied to his waist!

peace
That's why I refuse to pay for horror movies these days. If they ain't PG-13 they got some bullshit assed way to twist the movie into a happy ending. Life ain't full of happy endings!

Great movie in these pussy times, the ending was oringinal.

More suprise endings in movies.

I hate to say it but direct to dvd movies are better horro movies then mainstream cause of the ideas.

I knew I wasn't going to see it when they asked the black man to tie the rope around his waist and go out into the mist.

Yeh but in the movie you see that it wasn't the black man who was at the end of the rope. It was a hillbilly that looked like Dog The Bounty Hunter.

I thought the movie was good, the ending wuz tripped out
i said DAAAAYUM, dats fucked up, shit caught me off guard.
the message i got from the ending, no matter how fucked yo situation in life is, life is too precious and yo life is worth
fighting for

the mist had a cool flow to it, shit kept me guessing,

dat religious crazy bitch pissed me off though
but overall, dis movie surprised me

2 str8 stephen king movies i like, 1408 and now the mist

I Don't see how some of ya'll can comment on a movie you haven't even seen.
This was one of the most realistic thriller/horror film in a long time. It remindes me a little of the Dawn of The Dead remake a few years ago.

The black dude was not on the rope, but it did look like that in the previews.
He played one of the dumbest movie characters in recent history.

There is Mist covering the city, a pool of blood in the stock room, and a man that says he was almost killed by something in the mist and he thinks the white dude is trying to set him up.

A good sequel would be to see what happened to the first group that left (or the people that were in the pharmacy). Assuming they didn't get killed 30 seconds after walking out of the door. There is a chance they got away because the biker was going to the truck.

I still think that the army and the rescued people were still not safe and were going to get killed at the end anyway. The only sure way to get rid of those bugs and spiders would be to nuke the town.

I'm inclined to say the army was pretty sure what the fuck was goin down. They were all covered in bio-warfare gear. That gear keeps your scent inside.. nothing can smell you. Those things either tracked by scent or smell or both. With that many people uncovered by the Open top personnel carriers. It was pretty safe to move on. The mist was also clearing. Meaning that the main "breach" had been closed. Now was just the mop up. That ITC (impossibly tall critter) though is another story. Im thinking the attack copters were gonna get that ass.

Still The books ending left nothing resolved.. this movie did the opposite.. Ended the movie and the story definitively.. at least for Davids group.

I would luv to see a sequel, theres alot of ways you can go with the storyline but it was #9 in it's opening weekend box office. Not much chance for a big budget production again. Maybe str8 to video like the childred of the corn.

Cant release a movie like that around thanksgiving... That was poor planning and strategy. This movie had no signs of hope.. On a holiday weekend devoted to hope and thanks. The budget was only 15 million so it'll make it's money back.

If they had a bigger budget and better CG, and more/better marketing things woulda been different.

Another alternative is picking up the story again from a soldiers perspective. Particularly dealing with damage control and how the military tries its best to completely cover up the incident while struggling to defeat the remaining creatures and dealing with the prospect of killing off everyone in the town.

This movie is about the monster WITHIN (each of us) and not the monster without. Some folks really need to grow up and start to understand the psychology of horror movies. The good ones are rarely about non-human "monsters."

Wow sounds like some movie, this debate is really getting interesting. Hollywood is putting out more and more movies like this nowadays. With all the earth changes occuring (strange weather, new species popping up), expect more films along this line.

You already know it's all subliminal programming. They have quite an operation going.

I'm almost 101 sci-fi did some kind of film just like this. the only problem with telling the story from the soldiers aspect is that you lose some of the "monster with in" sub story and it turns into a horror/action movie.

Tazirai You have a point, The military would not start a search and rescue mission until the threat had been reasonably contained.

But for the last few years they have been releasing horror films during the christmas holiday. i'm not sure why they do that.

thats one of the reasons why that ending came about(and King was ok with it)..to kill any chance whatsoever of a sequel, according to what the director said in interviews and at the last Comic-Con

.

I don't necessarily agree with that, the soldier and his comrades after all are responsible for killing the remaining creatures and survivors that include men, woman, and children. An aspect of what makes us human and what's humane vs being a "monster with in" still applies to the soldiers who are ordered to complete this task imo.

just my take

I'm an airforce vet, specialty was communications. The one thing we do as comm specs, is to make sure the lines are always open. the way the military operates is either reactive or proactive. My job woulda been to secure my station and all the personnel in and around it. Make sure nothing and no one could get to us. keep the lines open, move to secondary and tertiary positions, and if needed leave the safety of the room.

The Breach( if there was one) needed to be closed, this would stop all further incursions by foreign agents. from there sweep teams, like the ones in the movie would fan out 360 degrees from a central avenue. they'd perform two functions.. search and retrieval and mop up operations.

A story from the soldiers perspective could be told from a "Dog soldiers" perspective. a helluva movie btw. The horror is maintained, since it would focus on the breach and the fallout, just before help arrived and things got under control.

It shouldn't come as any surprise to anyone. The only film based on a Stephen king book that was any good was the Shining! And he didn't like it. All his books should stay just that books!:(

Dog Soldiers has to be one of the better low budget sci fi movies I have ever seen. Spectacular horror film. Definitely one of the better Werewolf flicks I have ever seen. No bullshit CGI

Misery was good. Too me his worst was that bullshit "Dreamcatcher", creatures coming out your ass.
