I knew I wasn't going to see it when they asked the black man to tie the rope around his waist and go out into the mist.
That's why I refuse to pay for horror movies these days. If they ain't PG-13 they got some bullshit assed way to twist the movie into a happy ending. Life ain't full of happy endings!Man, you guys have been brainwashed into Disney-type endings.
That's why I always dig Japanese movies where the endings aren't always in the classical sense.
This movie's ending resembles Pet Semetary--a damned classic IMO.
It's one of those endings that stays with you. I'm glad a SK movie finally had a fitting ending.
BTW, I would like to agree that the brother dies, even though the rope was never tied to his waist!
peace
saw that joint the other day, the crazy religious chick made you wanna hit someone but they had good points about the mob mentality and how after you take away the cell phones, police and make mofo's fend for themselves people go crazy. The ending fucked everyone in the movie up, made every father in the joint heart drop the fuck out. All in all it made me wanna read the book.....

damn that ending bummed me out.
shouldve killed the church lady a loooooong time ago.
I
I still think that the army and the rescued people were still not safe and were going to get killed at the end anyway. The only sure way to get rid of those bugs and spiders would be to nuke the town.
I would luv to see a sequel, theres alot of ways you can go with the storyline but it was #9 in it's opening weekend box office. Not much chance for a big budget production again. Maybe str8 to video like the childred of the corn.
I'm inclined to say the army was pretty sure what the fuck was goin down. They were all covered in bio-warfare gear. That gear keeps your scent inside.. nothing can smell you. Those things either tracked by scent or smell or both. With that many people uncovered by the Open top personnel carriers. It was pretty safe to move on. The mist was also clearing. Meaning that the main "breach" had been closed. Now was just the mop up. That ITC (impossibly tall critter) though is another story. Im thinking the attack copters were gonna get that ass.
Still The books ending left nothing resolved.. this movie did the opposite.. Ended the movie and the story definitively.. at least for Davids group.
Wow sounds like some movie, this debate is really getting interesting. Hollywood is putting out more and more movies like this nowadays. With all the earth changes occuring (strange weather, new species popping up), expect more films along this line.
You already know it's all subliminal programming. They have quite an operation going.
Another alternative is picking up the story again from a soldiers perspective. Particularly dealing with damage control and how the military tries its best to completely cover up the incident while struggling to defeat the remaining creatures and dealing with the prospect of killing off everyone in the town.

I'm almost 101 sci-fi did some kind of film just like this. the only problem with telling the story from the soldiers aspect is that you lose some of the "monster with in" sub story and it turns into a horror/action movie.

Tazirai You have a point, The military would not start a search and rescue mission until the threat had been reasonably contained.
But for the last few years they have been releasing horror films during the christmas holiday. i'm not sure why they do that.
I'm an airforce vet, specialty was communications. The one thing we do as comm specs, is to make sure the lines are always open. the way the military operates is either reactive or proactive. My job woulda been to secure my station and all the personnel in and around it. Make sure nothing and no one could get to us. keep the lines open, move to secondary and tertiary positions, and if needed leave the safety of the room.
The Breach( if there was one) needed to be closed, this would stop all further incursions by foreign agents. from there sweep teams, like the ones in the movie would fan out 360 degrees from a central avenue. they'd perform two functions.. search and retrieval and mop up operations.
A story from the soldiers perspective could be told from a "Dog soldiers" perspective. a helluva movie btw. The horror is maintained, since it would focus on the breach and the fallout, just before help arrived and things got under control.
It shouldn't come as any surprise to anyone. The only film based on a Stephen king book that was any good was the Shining! And he didn't like it. All his books should stay just that books!![]()
