I really don't get all the hype surrounding these lace front weaves

I watched "Salt and Pepa" show last night and they showed Salt getting a lace front weave like Pepa. Pepa's weave has always looked a hot mess to me, especially when she was on "surreal life" rocking that red and blonde one. That shit looks like a hat sitting on her head, with no natural hairline. I don't understand what is supposed to be pretty about that. They look like cheap wigs sitting on someone's head. Every lace front I've seen basically all look like that. There are a few online that look more natural around the hairline, but.....sorry, I don't think they are worth the 300.00+ price tag. :smh:

Well Pepa doesn't get great weaves to begin with so I'm not surprised her lace front wasn't on point.

It's not just hers though. All of them don't look like they are worth the big bucks they are costing. Beyonce and Tyra keeps theirs fairly nice, but I can get that same look several hundred dollars cheaper. I just don't get the hype. If I don't see some type of natural hairline or temple, it just looks like a hat sitting on the head to me.

It's all about application.

Be it weave, wig, braids, or whatever.

This is a nice lace front weave, but again, I can get this with a nicer quality wig (65 bucks or so), a fresh perm to my hairline edges---that would make it a total cost of about 100 bucks.

I don't think they are worth the 300-1500 price tags I've seen. Seems like a rip off.

Well I don't pay 300 for mine. In fact, I'm finally getting my 2 units tomorrw. It works for me because my hair is natural underneath and I have no plans of putting a relaxer in my hair.

Many stars are rocking naturals now. Most of the women I converse with who are rocking lace wigs are either bald underneath due to chemo, alopecia or by choice. And many of them are just growing their hair out naturally. I've even seen some with locs underneath. Just rocking the lace wig to get a different look. I don't think you can put a weave on locks.

I've never had one, but I've seen some very nice ones My cousin pays about $350 for a wet and wavy lace front weave and the girl looks awesome. I think it's just how you take care of it and the person doing it.

I believe that lace-front weaves give your hair a more natural look. The say I see it, if you're going to wear fake hair the key is to make it look as real as possible. This would require that the weave be done by someone with some skills.

Lola check your PM.

I sent you pics of my lace unit application I did today.

Ladies, PM me if you're interested in seeing them.

Now you know I wanna see! I remember talking to you about this one day. I was so scared I couldnt apply it correctly, that I never got one. Was it easy?

I'm not personally familiar with them. But what I have heard that is disturbing to me, is women shaving their natural hairline and gluing the wig to their forehead. Not sure if thats true....but, that doesn't sound healthy to me. Let me know if thats true?
