Crazy thing is it just ain't who people think it is. A lot of folks in suburbs check-to-check on the McMansion and benz.
A lot of them suburban folks doin bad bruh. A friend of mine is a mail carrier. She said one day she's delivering mail to this honkey sittin on the steps right. Real nice house with two Mercedes in the driveway. She hands him a few pieces of mail and he just looks at her and says, "these bills are too much. I wish I was dead." Crakkkas always killing themselves cause they got money problems.

Last Year I bought a rental property and I saved 45% of my income from my job ( I'm a homebody so I rarely go out unless I'm working) My clients pay pretty well so I pay some bills ahead when I can. I'm pretty much chilling until we get the ok to head back to work. I learned from 2008-2011 the value of a dollar. I've got 3 large contracts that just told me to wait until this over and we're back to business. This is basically a long sabbatical for me.

Great job doing that man.

I use to always save up in case of emergencies but the money start disappearing as though I was only dreaming I had the money. Never got a chance to spend it on what I saved it up for. And what I saved it up for was emergencies but also to invest and flip it. But instead other things started taking the money as if waking me up that it was never my money.
Guess the American dream is really that, a dream and you have to be asleep to be a part of this. But it is still a struggle to keep at the money and resources and land.

Even more fucked up; this outbreak hit about a month AFTER many folks got big ass tax refunds; I’m talking like $5-9k for a family of say, 4 or 5 making <$50k a year; and that money got spent on either needs (repairs, medical), or wants, but it’s GONE. I filed last week and had planned to put the refund on an outstanding debt; nope; it’s going straight into saving until further notice. The timing of when things hit is a muthafucka.

Right and those younger whites want out of the grip of suburban debt and they want the city living because it's cheaper and if push comes to shove they can pack up and move.

I know so many motherfuckers that are living in the burbs and are doing bad,job security isn't there like it once was and with all of those degrees their still an educated fool because they can't beat the system that's setup to keep them wanting, needing and reaching for more than they can buy,use or need and their children are in the same boat.

I know a family husband, wife and their three adult children live in the same house with their one adult son and two minor kids which one has issues and needs 24hr attention, all of that in one house, but it's suburban living......

Yup. I agree with all of this.

I had a fund, but spent most of it keeping the bills paid during a few slow months of DJing. Then last week half of my savings disappeared when Bitcoin crashed.

I have enough food and cash on hand to pay rent and make it through the month, but I need more to cover my credit card debt. That shit needs to a a zero balance by April.

Luckily, doordash is still running in San Francisco. I'm going to try and get my shifts in early just in case they call for a total lockdown down the line.

It's times like this I'm happy to live in an overcrowded condo full of roaches in a radioactive island. If I lived any better I'd be fucked!

Shit bout to get real in few more months for them. This is another reason to always have your credit & bread right because a lot of those things they own will be going on a fire sale.

OP is dead on. A lot of that social media flossing has turned to fear the last week. Folks with no cash saved and no credit because of bad debts, repos, etc. I was broke during the last recession and it was a scary place to be; literally got down to my last $200 and didn’t have a job for a few months until fortune changed. I make it a point to keep 6 months of e-funds in a high yield online saving account AND enough credit lines open (HELOC, credit cards) to hopefully get thru most “shit is hitting the fan” situations.

It’s all for not if you don’t have good health though. And a lot of these younger fools are about to find out the hard way that the YOLO life will fuck them over even more in a crisis.
They aint gonna learn shit, they dont care, they ain't all young either .

Paypal is down for good, you can't get money out of that place, they will need a bailout soon. Keep cash on hand, you never know when a place goes down. People are panic withdrawing their money out and the banks can't handle it.

You are far more likely to get laid off before there isn’t any food and water left.
Understood and alot of people who are laid off are not living above their means. They only made enough to survive anyway.
U missed the point
What about the people in service industry who cannot work RIGHT NOW?
Correct. I did I was thinking way deeper. The service industry is fucked I don't feel too bad for them tho. I've told many a bartender or dancer you better learn a real skill you been doin this 10 plus years. Only fans and snap chat premium hiring.

Yep. Who's the first to kill themselves when the economy crashes? There are a ton of rich broke people.

I learned in my late 20's that material shit is worthless when you're out of cash. Credit cards maxed out and trying to sell shit to get some cash back is not a good place to be.

I just wonder if the government is going to stop evictions, will it stop mortgage payments for landlord's, or are we supposed to float them when the big corporations get bailed out? There will be a rash of evictions this year once the handouts stop.

An overreaction to the message. Workers can still demand to be paid during this but landlords can’t?

there are no mortgage bailouts yet. It can cost companies a lot in late fees when rent isn’t paid

Watch your bank carefully, look for any strange activity such as account freezes due to verification requests or other bullshit. Than you call customer service and nobody answers claiming that it is due to Covid-19 and they are understaffed.

The bank is blocking withdrawals due to a bank run and is using clever tactics to shut it down.

That's why they need to suspend mortgage payments like France and Italy. Any landlord charging rent after that needs their fucking ass kicked. But suspending rent AND taxes should automatically trickle down to renters. Utilities cutoffs already suspended.

Landlords can't eat this shit while bankers get cuts and don't pass shit down. Fuck them. Our government should have had all this shit laid out just waiting to get signed off on. Instead, congress is scrambling around while we on lockdown. Dumbasses. :smh:

What's crazy is that America has the power to just print shit and get away with it. If this shit rips through developing countries, :itsawrap: The developed nations don't have enough testing, money, and equipment for their own, let alone to float those places. This shit will get worse globally. What we have now will be true first-world problems in comparison.

And all of this while having the worst "leader" possible in charge.
