I was at this party tonight, and some folk I ended up chillin with (my cousin friends....I'm out of town) was like ", I only like em light skin." :smh: Not saying nothings wrong with that, cause the most beautiful girl I EVER seen in person was light skinned :D(I seen her tonight....DAMN MAMA!!!!!!!!!!). Ms. Myles, and some other chocolate ladies are matching her and all, but whats up with the red bones only?

I would like to hear what my sisters got to say about this topic. Cause I dont discriminate. :D

But I love my chocolate sistas. Lighter skin and all the flaws show up easier. Plus some look like a Calico cat butt-naked.

I'm convinced, the most overlooked discrimination is the color-based discrimination we hold, between US.

It's about the LOOKS, and not the skin color. If a woman is beautiful she's beautiful (light or dark). The skin tone thing is a distraction. Neither "side" has the upper hand.

i agree with you about how it SHOULD be about looks

but

some ppl have a color complex

that is where comments like "you are cute for a dark skin girl" come from.

i know dark skin men and women who don't date dark skin ppl cuz they don't want their children to come out dark b/c of the bias they experienced themselves....how many ppl do u know are concerned about creating light skin children?

Yeah, and some of those people are haters of "light skin," who always assume that certain successful women are only being judged as beautiful because of their skin color, and not due to their general beauty. It works both ways.

People say (and think) a lot of stupid things. You don't need to reinforce their foolishness by giving them validity (and power). Just make an effort to promote all types of beauty, and eventually the message will sink in.

That's just social brainwashing (and also a past reality). It has nothing to do with the facts of whether someone is truly attractive or not based on skin color.

And you know what my baby mother used to say that shit when I first met her.

I paused and was like what? Im cute to be darkskin? So does that mean all darkskin people are ugly??

She said no but most are..they look dirty. But anyways after dealing with her for about 4 months she stopped saying it.

The lightskin/darkskin debate is really stupid to me. Beauty comes in all colors. And busted is busted...it doesn't have a skintone.

I have some Indian associates who are really struggling with this lightskin/darkskin thing. It is actually very disturbing.

I feel ya… My Mum is a Louisianan and taught me to find a girl that is light like her so our kids will come out light or light brown… For the first part of my single days it was that way for me… But some how I always connect with Dark women… So I got one from Africa and my Mum embraced her more than the others.

The only reason some of us are color struck is because we live in America and are brainwashed by the European standard of beauty. If we all stayed in Africa and Europeans weren't fuckin' with us, we would more than likely all be a shade of brown. Do you think that black men would go without pussy just because they couldn't find a light-skinned chick? Hell no, they would fuck around with the only thing they had available....a dark-skinned chick.

I love all shades equally but I often get approached by lighter skin sistas more than the darker skinned ones.:confused:

Skin discrimination is an unhealthy external obsession w/ no real relevance to the person's true inner self and beauty. It's a shame we Black folks have not progressed beyond this point.

Where have you been? :( We NEED you around these parts
