Good stuff.

One of our guys at work phased out his health issues (diabetes included) over time. Used to snack excessively, and have many aches and pains (knees, back, etc). Cut down on the snacking and increased his output (walking, yoga, tai-chi). He turned 64 this fall, and looks younger now than he did when I met him nearly 20 years ago. Chinese Canadian / approx' 5'4" and 135 - 140lbs now, and he got up to 240 - 245 at his highest.

It's interesting when you look back at older photos of him from 2004 - 2010 and he looks quite a bit older compared to now. He was doing daily BGL checks and now will just casually check it once monthly as it's been in order for years.

Congrats Bro! Thank you for posting I'm working on mine. Howd you do it?
When I realized that diabetes was a disease of fat being stored in organs or places that was not supposed to store fat. It clicked with me to change my diet and exercise.

I went low carb. No where near Keto level. Keto was not for me..lol.

What helped the most was intermittent fasting. I did the 16:8 method. So I stopped eating at 7pm and skipped breakfast. That was the easiest way for me to fast for 16 hours.

Bread and rice use to spike my blood sugars like crazy. For those reading that are none diabetic and trying to follow along. After you eat, your sugar levels should be less than 140 after 1 to 2 hours. Mine use to be over 250.

To slow down the absorption of carbs and glucose, I paired it with protein and fiber. If I ate bread or rice, I made sure to eat some broccoli first and my blood sugar levels would only spike to 112. About 15 points

Congrats to you brother. My numbers were not as high but I was borderline. I did just the opposite and went on a high carb diet that consisted of only whole foods like black rice, quinoa and beans. Chicken and fish as main sources of protein.

Exercise 5 days a week to maintain some muscle. Whoever you are if I may, surround yourself with people who have the same energy as you and vibrate on the same frequency. What you have done is nothing short of incredible, and you should be proud of yourself that you have extended your life. Dwell in that and not any of the negativity from this board or anyone or anything else in your life that brings negativity. Negative energy feeds off negative energy.

The ultimate act of self love is first realizing you cant love yourself if you don't take care of self first.

Be well.

How have your numbers been. It’s a dude that swears by your kind of diet and his numbers are great after being terrible for years

Congrats!!!! Similar situation with me 20 years ago, but keep this in mind... You have to maintain your present lifestyle and keep working or it can turn back around on you ..
My blood sugars had been so high for so long that it became normal to my body. When I started to get my blood glucose under control I felt awful for damn near three weeks

I was shaking and feeling like death when my blood sugar was at 97. I even went to the ER because I was showing signs of what I thought was severe low blood sugar. The doctor was like your body is adjusting and it will take time to get use to normal blood sugar levels.

I felt terrible for mistreating my body for that long and it motivated me to make a change

My blood sugar monitor used to laugh at me & it would simply say "high." I guess over 500, it wouldn't give a number.

My typical diet that I eat for those that asked

Grabbed a rotisserie chicken from Samclub and cut the meat off it.

I would usually get a high fiber 4 net carb tortillas and make quesadillas with the rotisserie chicken and pair it with a veggie

My go to snack was popcorn as it did nothing to my blood sugar

Ate a ton of salads

Broccoli & cheese - I would take steamed Broccoli florets season them and individually smash them. Place some ham or bacon on top, add some cheese (mozzarella) and baked in the oven until the cheese browns

Lots of baked chicken and fish

Hamburger wrap with lettuce and tomato

Different kinds of homemade vegetables soups

A lot is strawberries. They did spike my blood sugars so I paired it with protein to prevent the spikes

I had to stop eating mango. They spiked just as high as drinking a coke:smh:

Zero Sugar sodas hurt my stomach so they were a no go. I had to settle on the zero sugar water flavored packs.

Drunk endless amounts of water

Lots of cabbage, collard greens, butter beans and green beans

Wow, surprised you were still walking around. Most would be in the ER. Your body is a tank:lol:

For those who don’t have diabetes. Nigga a blood sugar that high would destroy all of your organs, nerves, eyes sight would go completely and he was still walking around.

That is amazing that your body could take that
