That might be true, but at this point most don't care.
It's the same for Halloween and Thanksgiving. Whatever it's derived from, it now isn't the reason for the celebrations and people don't acknowledge whatever dark past that the holiday originated from.
And in most instances most people don't even know the past or the true history of what's being celebrated.
So you can keep trying to teach people, but most won't care.

I had a preacher trying argue me something serious on this subject when I asked him why was there a Christmas tree in the church and I brought up this exact scripture

I grew up when columbus day was celebrated and “important” to my kids it’s Indigenous Peoples day and they might be out of school
I just enjoy the time off and some festivities most of them now is just heavy advertising seasons to sell us some dumb shit
Yep, nowadays we just enjoy the time off and do whatever that commercial day or commercial holiday calls for.
The majority of people aren't thinking deeply about the origins of whatever holiday that it is.
But it's definitely good to know.
