Death

On August 22, 1989, Newton was fatally shot on the 1400 block of 9th street in West Oakland by a 24-year-old Black Guerilla Family member, Tyrone Robinson.[17] Robinson was convicted of the murder in August 1991 and sentenced to 32 years for the crime.[18] Official accounts claimed Robinson was a known drug dealer in Oakland.[4]

Robinson contended that Newton pulled a gun when the two met at a street corner in the neighborhood, OPD Sergeant Mercado said, "But investigators said they found no evidence Newton had been armed." The murder occurred in a neighborhood where Newton, as minister of defense for the Black Panthers, once tried to organize social programs to help African Americans in destitution, like feeding poor, young children in the community, before they would go to school.

Newton's last words, as he stood facing his killer, were, "You can kill my body, but you can't kill my soul. My soul will live forever!" He was then shot three times in the face by Robinson.[19]

So I was watching Boomerang with a lady friend and we started arguing over the fact that I said that Halle Berry's character was far more deceitful that Robin Given's. My reasoning was this:

Halle was feeling Marcus but thought she couldn't get him over Robin so she started poking him for info as to what was going on(convo on the plane to New Orleans and asking her about Marcus' rep).

She went out with his boy then slept with him(she initiated it) and broke up their friendship.

She moved her shyt into his apartment with the quicks despite the fact that she knew he wasn't over Robin's character.

She claims that Robin was playing games and I said that Robin was upfront with him about what she was about and he caught feelings after he hit, that was solely on him.

What do ya'll think?

damn.

newt's ending was fucked up. :smh:

Once that man died, so did the real black panthers..

They don't make leaders like Huey anymore.

them oakland cacs waited for years to murder him

he was killed by the bgf.

dayum man. follow along.

but i remember the night when huey got killed. i spoke on it to a dude i knew from around the way and he was like 'who's huey p. newton?'

i was just like :smh:

whole lot of people were either afraid or ignorant of the panter party

Huey used to extort from his own people, read up more on the man before making him your hero.

All kind of erroneous bullshit was reported about that cat. That cat started a world wide movement to educate and mentally arm young people who had been beaten into a slave mentality for years.

Bottom line, dude put his life on the line and fought off multiple government murder attempts for years, which he eventually unfortunately fell victim too.

any real threat of change to the establishment will always end in the death of the messenger of said change and it is this reason that i say the black leaders we have today are not trying to effect true change.

we need more black men willing to die for change.

yeah. cause 'cacs' actually run the bgf

more than 20 years it's been out that the black guerilla family had huey shot over some street sheit

Newton was dead long before the BGF put bullets in him. Also, let's not forget Newton helped FORM the BGF (through George Jackson) to be one military arm of the BPP. And yes, he extorted money....FROM PIMPS AND DRUG DELAERS, so I couldn't give a rat's ass. Anywhere you see a FREE LUNCH PROGRAM in the USA, it was him who started it nationwide. Free food, free clothing, free after school programs, free transportation were all programs initiated and IMPLEMENTED by the Black Panther Party for Self Defense. Mostly with money TAKEN from people (black and white) poisoning the black community. Yes over time, he did develop a cocaine habit, he was practically being spoon fed coke from the beautiful people on high (where'd they get the drugs from?). That habit was practically MANDATED by none other than J. Edgar Homo himself since there was no other way for J.E.Homo to infiltrate and TAKE OVER the BPP like he mentions in his COINTELPRO memos

and don't leave out the free immunization programs. but he developed his drug habit after hoover died in 1972. but when he returned to the usa after fleeing to cuba, dude just wasn't allowed to earn a living or be a productive member of society. people were moving on from his type of thinking and action. huey was a brilliant guy but ostracized and imo he just couldn't take it anymore

Absolutely, thanks for the reminder. Also Hoover was dead (bless his racist soul) but his program was alive and kicking. Sort of like his legacy. If white folks were honest, Hoover's name would be in the history books right next to those "Willie Lynch" letters
