Fight Over James Brown's Height Results In Shooting
ATMORE, Ala. (January 11, 2007) -- There may be no disputing James Brown's stature when it comes to his position as Godfather of Soul.
But police say for two men in Alabama, there was apparently enough of an argument over James Brown's height to result in gunplay. Police in Atmore say a man shot his friend when the two of them argued over Brown's height.

Authorities say Dan Gulley Junior shot David James Brooks Junior at a friend's house shortly after noon on Monday -- once they got to fussing over how tall the Godfather of Soul was.

Police say when the argument heated up, Gulley shot Brooks twice in the abdomen, after which Brooks went to his car, got a gun and fired at Gulley. He missed, then went to the police station to report the incident. Gulley also went to the station to report the shooting.

The Mobile, Alabama Press-Register says officers didn't believe alcohol was a factor in the argument. Brown died Christmas morning at an Atlanta hospital at age 73. It's unclear exactly how tall he was.

Self hating people don't need a reason to kill one another. I met JB in the casino at MGM Grand in Vegas about 5 years ago. By "met" I mean he and his entourage walked past me and I spoke, and he did. He was performing there that night (didn't go). He was waaaay shorter than I woulda thought, and the dudes face looked like it was chiseled from granite. All due respects to JB cause white media didn't give him his due when he passed, but JB was real short!

your right I did automatically assume they were black. If the story had man shot over argument about Elvis being alive I think I would have thought they were white.
