Leopards are bad ass but even they avoid the big cats (lions). Tigers would be top of the list but they don't hunt in prides

The five big cats: tiger, lion, cheetah, leopard, jaguar.

Each has a different "strength" if you will. And some are separate from the others due to evolution and continental drift.
Lions - strength and they work together.
Cheetahs - speed. But smaller than lions and lions WILL hunt and kill them. Not as hard as you might think.
Leopards - quickness. You cannot believe how quick a leopard is. Literally faster than your eyes can follow. Smaller than cheetahs. Lions will kill them if they somehow catch one.

Tigers - the biggest and therefore the strongest.

Jaguars - the most powerful pound for pound and their bite is the most powerful.

Then we have cougars which are classified as North American lions. And the gorgeous Snow Leopard.

Plus there are many, many smaller species like caracals, margays, ocelots, servals, lynx, bobcat etc, right down to housecats.

Sorry about the colin but I love cats of any size.

I'm the same. Love cats of any size. Watching them or watching them hunt. Utterly amazing. it's innate. You can have a kitten that has never seen a mouse and when it sees a mouse it starts to hunt

Yeah, they are some fascinating animals. 90% of the time they're just cats: they sleep and eat and shit. But the other 10% they do some unbelievably strange shit.

Check out the poem - Ode To The Cat by Pablo Neruda he captures those furry little fuckers perfectly.

Pablo Neruda's 'Ode to the Cat'

Read this at Pablo Neruda's beautiful home in Val Paraiso and loved it!
To Brownie
The animals
were imperfect,
long-tailed, dismal
in the head.
Little by little
they composed themselves,
becoming a landscape,
gaining spots, grace, flight.
The cat,
only the cat,
appeared complete
and proud:
born completely
finished,
it walks alone and knows what it wants.

Man wants to be a fish and a bird,
the snake would rather have wings,
the dog is a lost lion,
the engineer wants to be a poet,
the fly studies the swallow,
the poet tries to imitate the fly,
but the cat
wants only to be cat,
and every cat is cat
from whiskers to tail,
from hunches to live rat,
from night to its yellow eyes.

There’s no entity
like it,
neither moon nor flower
has its construction:
it’s a solitary thing
like the sun or a topaz,
and the supple line
of its contour,
firm and delicate, is like
the prow line of a ship.
Its yellow eyes
leave only
a crack
to stuff the coins of the night.

O little
emperor without globe,
conqueror without country,
tiny tiger of the living room, sultan
groom of a sky
of erotic tiles,
the wind of love
in the open air
you demand
when you pass
and pose, placing
four delicate feet
on the floor,
sniffing,
doubting
every earthly thing,
since everything
is filthy
for the cat’s immaculate feet.

O independent beast of the home,
arrogant remnant of night,
lazy, gymnastic
and alien,
most profound cat,
secret police
of dwellings,
emblem
of a lost velvet,
there’s probably no
enigma
to your manner,
perhaps you’re not mysterious,
the entire world knows you and you belong
to the least mysterious inhabitant,
perhaps everyone believes he’s the master,
owner, uncle
of the cat, companion,
colleague,
disciple or friend
of the cat.

I no.
I don’t buy it.
I don’t know the cat.
I know everything, life and its archipelago,
the sea and the unfathomable city,
botany,
the harem and its excess,
virtues and flaws of mathematics,
the world’s volcanic veins,
the unreal carapace of crocodiles,
the hidden goodness of firemen,
the blue atavism of priests,
but I cannot figure out the cat.
My reasoning slips before its indifference,
its eyes with their golden numbers

Nope, the elephant is. Ask the leopard.

Yeah, I luv watching lions hunt. For them not to talk, they sure know how to play their part!!

I take it you haven't seen the "Tiger targets man on elephant" YouTube vid.

Tigers are the true kings!!

And yeah Panthers are just black leopards....Most Panthers have spots just gotta be in the sun to see.

Black panther is the melanistic color variant of any big cat species. Black panthers in Asia and Africa are leopards, and those in the Americas are black jaguars.

I love watching big cats (from afar...on tv)

The lions you see here are undergrown. For reasons that are not well understood,
wild animals do not grow to full size in captivity. I have seen lions in the wild, and
they huge...

Lions are so strong that stories are told of lions jumping into a cattle pen, grabbing
and ox by the neck and breaking it, and then throwing the ox over the low fence,
dragging in the mud, across a small stream, to its waiting pride where the carcass
is devoured in no time

That oblique bend in that rope plus the friction generated against that NARROW metal opening plays a huge part. Crazy how so many people are negating that. I'm not saying the cat isn't strong.....but with physics working against you along with the cat, they can't win. a straight up tug of war with the bullshit involved would be far more interesting. The cat has the mechanical advantage.

pointless....if they can crush bones of animals that weight 1200-1500 pounds of muscle, than how strong do you think they are...duh
