How Should I Invest This?

Well I have about $14G in my savings. I just dont want it to sit there. I'm plan opening a roth IRA and throw a few G's into it at the beginning of the year. I'm looking to make long term and short term returns. I don't have any debts holding me back(except a school loan but that will be paid off by the end of 2008 and a mortgage payment). Everything else I have is paid off. Any suggestions?

My humble suggestion is a energy stock, such as NGAS,DYN,GW,or SJT. The first 3 are either Gas or OIL explorers or producers. SJT is a Royal Trust. All it does is pay dividend monthly. Yield is about 10%

You may have to recheck them because this list was from early last year and some have risen in price and therefore the rates/share will have decreased
