whoa there horsey.... slow down.

I didn't say "ALL MEN IN NY LIVE AT HOME WITH THEIR PARENTS" nor did I say I was dating these dudes or looking at them as potential mates.

Now if you wanna ask me in what capacity am I meeting these guys, I will answer with:

Dudes I work with, dudes I meet out in general via the club or in the streets in passing, my male cousins all live with my aunt (they actually are in NJ though so we won't count them), my female acquaintances... the dudes they talk about all live at home with their parents.

This isn't just a black thing either. It's alot of Whites and Hispanics I've come across that live at home too.
Mz, I never wrote nor implied any of that. A general statement like your original one simply says more about you than about them. Maybe the guys you meet in passing and in the clubs are from the same socio-economic background. Of course they're gonna have the same issues...for better or worse.

MzKitty, it seems like every man in NYC lives with moms or grandma. It's especially disheartening when you tell them you live away from home b/c they automatically think "good, she has a place for me to crash." Wrong!

co-sign like a motha fucka

It's worse when you older and the dude is like 35/36 its real awkward when he learns you have your own spot then he divulges that he still home (then tries to justify why).... actually thats down right embarrassing. Then they think they can lay up at your shit burning electricity, eatting up your food... thinking they gonna get home cooked meals and shit lmaooooo

my whole thing is I am in the mindset like my parents aint gonna be around for ever. I wanna learn how to stand on my own 2 feet while their around. I know a couple of people where their parents passed and they didn't know what the fuck to do.

This girl I used to work with matter of fact... she was 40 living with her mom. One day her mom passed away in her sleep. She went into shock... didnt know what to do. I had to have my mom give her a call to give her tips on how to get her affairs in order because she didn't have any close relatives.

Hell even my youngest uncle who was 46 when my grandmother died. He still lived at home... and when my aunts and uncles went to sell the house he had to be dragged out screaming and kicking lollll:smh: not a good look.

I blame the parents. Folks need to produce better fruit.

Nope the only common denominator they share is the state of New York. Thats not to say that you only find those type of dudes here.... Its just I find them here more so then anywhere else.

I moved out at 20 but moved back when a fire destroyed my home. Been home a few months. Lookin for a new spot.

by the way, maybe we shouldn't be so hard on the men in NYC it is crazy expensive and hard to find an apartment in NYC! If its not a piece of shit then it costs an arm and a leg.
But I guess if he's like 30, theres not too much of an excuse but give em a break.

That, my sistah, is the absolute TRUTH!!! If you are living without a roomate in NYC, you are broke. I was living alone for some time, but I quit my job in Dec. to start my own venture. Moved out of my Harlem apt. now I split my time between Hoboken (living practically free with a cousin) and Brooklyn (paying for the utilities). Thinking about moving to either the Bronx or staying in Brooklyn permanently, where the rents are a bit lower.

Bronx prices arent so cheap either. My last apt i paid 975 in the bronx. 850-100 is avg for a one bdr. Try for a rent stabilized place. Lots in the south bronx and on the concourse. And them damn realtors are off the chain.

- most folks look at "taking care of your parents" as a cop-out, certain females didnt even fuck with me because of the so-called "drama"

- I refer to her as such because that's my momma, i cant refer to her as "my man's and them"....that would be just wrong. I guess you're trying to imply some Oedipus type shit....fraid' not homie. And shit i could refer to her as a "Box of Apple Jacks" if i wanted to, ease back.

Dog fuck that nigga he's been caught admitting he takes it up the ass, he got no right to second guess how you refer to yo' momma. :hmm:

As for me--been on my own ever since I left for college at 18. I might have spent one summer (after freshman year) back home, splitting time living with moms and grandma.

I moved out after college, and haven't been back since (21). I'm currently in NC, where I live by myself, although I have a sister here in the same city. At the age of 25, I like learning what my budget looks like each month and what I can put aside for fun things versus bills, etc. It helps me out, so that, when I enter a more stable relationship with someone, I'll know what I'm bringing to the table each month...

Damn is it like that lb? I've never heard the inner ho theory but I can agree that there are some women that live under their parents forever and it doesnt carry the same stigma as a man living at home with parents.

I left when I was 17 to go to school and not moved back since for more than a summer break. I LOVE living independently. It was the dream of my life as a teenager and I still love it. I'd only move back home if there was a dire financial situation or my mom needed help.

I don't mean to classify all of them as having an "inner ho"....but you kind of get what I mean....some of them just got that inner freak just trying to claw outta them like the thing in Alien....:lol::lol:........and for men it is different...men are looked at to be the provider and to be able to take care of the women/family financially,....historically.......and historically women were looked to be there to be taken by the right/able man....
