The shop owner could be in real trouble if a prosecutor wants to make a case. To me it seemed like the thieves could be minors.

My friend who battled drug addiction for nearly 30 years OD'd and died last year. He had legal troubles along the way and some jail / prison stints for armed robberies. Judge flat out said to him ... you knew what you were doing ... preying on people. Whether it be a latenight clerk at a gas station, or the staff at a stripclub.
From what my parents told me ... he pulled a gun on the stripclub staff and was threatening to use it. Too late. The bouncer jumped into action, disarmed him and beat the shit out of him. Unclear if it was that judge or another one noting to him - you threatened to kill them. They responded & could have easily ended your life. You're lucky you're not dead.
Friend's drug addiction was pretty much entirely heroin from early-teens to early-40s. But cocaine laced with fentanyl took them out in the end.

The one that got stabbed had just jumped the counter, so the owner will be ok. Had he gone and chased the kid down and stabbed him, he'd have problems, you come over the counter during a robbery....you're a legitimate threat.
