I wouldnt worry about the number. Most people that worry about the number of partners will never be satisfied unless that number is zero. Most people dont tell their real number anyway men or women. While the number of partners a woman (or man) has had is not indicative with whether they have a STD, it may give some insight into their mental set or how they view relationships.
It is up to the person if they wish to reveal how many partners they had. If you are concerned about STDs, then BOTH of you get tested and practice safe sex.
Whether friends with benefits is a good thing is dependent on each person. Being able to handle that situation depends on the maturity level of the person, whether one of the people involved will grow deeper feelings and want to change the nature of the relationship, and being able to deal with the other person saying "no", or the FWB situation dissolving over time.
