I'm just curious. We talk about how BGOL is a Black message board but we got a BUNCH of Uncle Ruckus types that hate their own people.

So how many actually support Black businesses.

As of right now my electrician, HVAC guy and plumber are all Black.

My lawn dudes are Hispanic but I found a Black lawn care company so that might change before the summer is done.
 
We should only support those businesses that DESERVE our support,

too many business are unprofessional and not worthy of anybodys support...

You say your business STARTS at a certain time THEN BE READY FOR FUCKIN BUSINESS AT THAT TIME.

Your service agreement says you can provide a service, and you CANT, thats just begging for lawsuits...

We do a FBA Black Business space every other day to promote Black Businesses around the country.

Damn right! I stepped over a dozen white plumbers to a black one a month ago to fix a slab leak in my house. Dude came out, accepted the job, sent me a quote and never called back. I call him and it goes straight to voicemail. I wound up calling a white plumber and he handled it right away for half the price. Its fucked up because I always look for my own people first.

I try to give my money to black owned even if they are a little higher than everyone else if I get good service.

U went the white way after somebody maybe had an emergency or something happened that affected his work. Instead of waiting with patience or seeking out another FBA brother to help u out. U instantly went to Dwight and felt good enough to make a post about it.

Did u support a Black Business today or yesterday?

Each one teach one. I can maybe see if u said u went on YouTube and saw a white plumber video to help solve your problem.
 
It's amazing that the knee jerk response to support black businesses from black people is that you expect low quality products or services. Black businesses have to face racism from the black people and the white people.

The problem most of you face is that you also expect the black services to be cheaper than the white services. So you are approaching the inexperienced unsophisticated contractor and expecting because he's black he's gonna give you the hook up.

I tell all my black business people that are good at what they do to charge extra!!! never give a discount. Consider yourself a luxury good and people will treat you accordingly. I had a wake up call when I had a white customer tell me that to my face. She told me my prices were too cheap for the value I was giving. She said she wanted to refer me to her friends but my prices were too low they would expect low quality. I doubled my prices and have people lining up. Everything I approach now is from that lens.

So support black and don't be scared to SPEND just like you would for those white guys with the fancy shirts.

I usually give people the benefit of the doubt on BGOL but sometimes its easy to tell when a mofo just wants to kick up dust for the hell of it. People give you a lot of shit on this board. I never really understood the hate but I do now. I do happen to know the black plumber didn't have an emergency. He's running for local office and decided his political aspirations were more important than the black customers that put food on his table. I try but it's not a lot of legit black businesses where I live (Raleigh-Durham). I do hit up a few black food joints in Durham.

I always try to support black business first until I'm forced not too or I just have to do business with others,like grocery stores,amazon.
 
90% of the restaurants I frequent are Black owned.

My travel agent is Black.

100% of the coffee I order is Black owned.

100% of the alcohol I purchase is from Black owned companies.

My facial care products are all Black owned. I wish there was a Black owned razor company though.

My financial advisor and tax attorney are both Black.

My Doctor is Black.

My dental hygienist is Black.

I buy tickets to damn near every Black movie produced, even if I don't go to the theater.

My personal library is almost all Black authors, and I gift multiple copies to family.

My high end fashion and business attire are from Black owned designers. My basic shit is off the rack though.

White folks and Asians still got me for the electronics, medicine, super markets, vehicles, etc. I wish I could do more.

No that white person told you something you should’ve learned from the beginning to dig in white people pockets.. you can always overcharge white people cause they are the most gullible consumers around.. this is biz 101.. majority of biz in america is aimed at white people and live and die off the white customers back. dont listen to that bullshit lie about black people being the biggest consumer in america, it’s always been white people. It’s more of them here in america and they have bigger pockets . NYC is one of the perfect examples that shows this dynamic. Just look at manhattan. Below 86 st is the biggest concentration of cacs in the borough, above it is the biggest concentration of other ethnic groups. Just look at the difference between rent below 86 st to above 86 st.. look at the price of food, entertainment, etc below 86 st compared to above.. I remember back in the 90s a fucking mint ball was 5 cents above 86 st below it that shit was a quarter.. 5 times the amount for the same product below 86 compare to above.. digging in white people pockets big bizz been doing it , small bizz been doing it, and lot of others need to learn this thing.. as we use to say why sell a bag of weed for 20 uptown when you can dig in white people pocket and sell it for 30-50 downtown

Get most of my stage clothes from a Black owned store

Learned intermittent fasting from a Black fitness coach

When a large DJ client needs a photobooth my partner and I hire a Black provider

Favorite restaurant was Black owned (RIP Souly Vegan)

So was my favorite bookstore (RIP Alexander books)

This would be a lot easier if the economy wasn't in a slump right now
