The man would have been a perfect fit for the Don "Air" Coryell (aka "the father of the modern passing game") system. In fact, he reminds me of former Coryell 'protege', HOF'er, Dan Fouts.

The only thing he currently lacks is the excellent supporting staff, i.e., Kellen Winslow, Charlie Joiner,John Jefferson, Wes Chandler, and that strong Charger OL...most of whom were HOF'ers.

If the Chargers had kept Brees they'd probably have gone to the 'Big Dance'.

Saints whole offense totally depends on Drew Brees. Do you really think the Saints receivers are nice? Colston was hurt most of last season. Devery Henderson always drop passes and is only a deep threat. Brees is turning dudes who were practice squad members in starters No fucking running game. No fucking defense. Brees keeps the Saints in the game. He has all the pressure on his back.

I watch all of the Saints games. Shit i live down there. Give the man his props

The Big Difference: Bree's supporting cast is younger (not as experienced)than those on the other teams. Plus, those are former Super Bowl or Conference playoff OB's. Some, multiple times.

Aaron Brooks did put up good stats. Saints had a running game back then. But check the turnovers for Aaron Brooks. Check the fumbles. Check the lost fumbles. had a hall of famer on the o line back then(Brees doesnt have that)..... Saints had some sort of a defense back then(Norman Hand, Laroi Glover, Sammy Knight, etc) Brees doesnt have that..... Duece was in his prime back then .... Joe Horn in his Prime back then... Then what was the problem? Aaron was the problem. His turnovers and attitude. Kept making stupid decisions. Shit I wish Jeff Blake never went down. (fuck the raiders).

Before the shit went down with Willie Roaf, dude was doing well from what I remember. No more turnovers than any other QB. He was also running the ball a shit load. Not as well as Vick, but dam sure much better running than Brees. And Horn and the other WRs were still dropping so many passes IN THEIR PRIME. Brooks stats probably would have been much higher. Then that locker room shit fucked up that whole team. O Line wasn't blocking anymore, more dropped balls, INTs, coaching. Kinda like the Cowboys problems.

Brees is playing behind a pretty good O Line and yes Duece aint running as well or as much as he use too. If the saints ran more like the use to, Brees would not have the numbers he has. And if you really paid attention, you would have noticed Duece stopped running as hard back when the O Line stopped blocking well. Guess dude was like "fuck that, I'm not getting hurt"

Peyton Manning has basically 4 more seasons than Brees under his belt as a starter.
- Brees avg yrds/throw as a Saints is 7.6 while Peyton's is 7.63.
- Brees avg yrds/season as a Saint is 4636 while over the same 3 yr period, Peyton's is 4146.

Aaron Brooks - bad decision maker. He's got an arm, and ok accuracy, but doesn't know when to throw it.

But hey, in a few more months the GREAT BREES and his Saints will get another shot to showup.

No matter how good someone is, if they don't have a supporting cast surrounding them or a good defense, they will always fall short. Without Brees, the Saints would have lost more games than they did. With Reggie White, Farve wouldn't have a ring. Without a Defense and a Tuck Rule, Tom Brady wouldn't have a ring.

Agreed, stats only show so much, but you brought it up. When he was with San Diego, he had LT running the rock. There was no need for him to throw it as many times like Sean Payton wants him to do. Different Offense, Different Team. Also, name an all-star WR on the Saints. He had no all-stars and still managed to get all those yards.

I disagree with you that he's a 50/50 QB. In your earlier post, you make a comparison to future Hall of Famers that were on exceptional teams. All of those teams had a supporting cast.

- Brett Favre - without Reggie White, and a host of others, he wouldn't have a ring
- Peyton Manning - with Wayne, Harrison, Addai, and don't forget during their Superbowl run, the defense came on in the playoffs (Freeney and Sanders).
- Donovan McNabb - Philly's Defense has always been solid. Even when McNabb was injured, Philly's still went to the playoffs.
- Kurt Warner - (Rams) without Marshall Faulk, he wasn't shit, (Cards) without that defense and L Fitz, he wasn't shit.
- Tom Brady - defense and the "Tuck" rule.
- Drew Brees - name a good defense that the Saints had? When they had a good running game, they went to the NFC Championship.

Just to make my point, plenty of teams that had avg QB's have won or been to the Superbowl. They went because of either a superior running game or defense.

Do you believe Roethlisberger is better than Brees?
Do you believe Jake Delhomme is better than Drew Brees?
Do you believe Trent Dilfer is better than Brees?
Do you believe Rex Grossman is better than Brees?
Do you believe Matt Hasselback is better than Brees?
Do you believe Eli Manning is better than Brees?

Roethlisberger has more rings than Dan Marino and Warren Moon put together. Whose the better quarterback??

A TEAM wins games, not just one person. With the cast surrounding Brees, he has done an outstanding job. Give me the Saints offense and the Giants/Phillys/Pittsburgh/Dallas Defense and I am certain Brees could have at least 2 rings.

This is my only knock on dude...he gets a huge pass when he fails to deliver. The true measure of a QBs greatness are the plays they make "in the clutch" & Brees fails miserably. I.E last play of the game 2008, chance to break Marino's record, 15 yards from the record. Moore ran a deep in about 17/18 yards giving Brees the record, WIDE open, Brees has NO pressure. Drew stepped into the pocket threw it & it bounced at Moore's feet, he couldn't catch it...game over :smh:

People are fooled by stats, but Payton is a pass happy coach...so naturally his QB will have great stats. That's why Fossell & Tuna demoted his ass because he's quick to abort the ground game and get cute with gadget plays & shit.
