How easy is it to grow your own herb and set up an indoor hydro system?

I saw a couple of videos on youtube that convinced me that I could grow my own herb. I'm still researching facts, like where to buy seeds, and which strains are easy to grow, and looking into what indoor hydroponic system to buy--or try to make. So if anybody has any advice or tips for beginning and/or wannabe growers like myself post them here.

Here's where I'm at:

I think that I can build a flowering room in my basement with some thick black plastic, and some planters. I know I'm going to have to cop a 400hps light with a timer. The ones I saw on ebay run about $200.

I was thinking about copping this grow box, and using it to flower: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...Category=43555&_trkparms=algo=LVI&its=I&otn=2. It seems perfect for novice growers like myself because other than watering--which I'll do myself, everything is there.

For seeds there are several online seed shops I'm looking at. http://www.marijuanaseedbanks.com/ I know buying online is risky, that's why when I'm ready to buy I'll place one order at a time.

Like I said, I still have a lot of research to do. The area that bothers me most is ventilation. I can't have my crib smelling like weed. Any tips, pointers, or info about general knowledge I seem to be missing would be appreciated.
 
not hard at all, but you energy company would notice the huge spike in your consumption and that would set off all kinds of red flags.

That does worry me. I've heard that led lights produce the same spectrum that plants need to grow and use a lot less energy. Does anyone know anything about this?
 
Word of advice, when talking about participating drug activity you might wanna PM instead. We have a gang of LE on this board.:smh::smh::smh:
 
Never fucked with hydro but I grew a plant back in the day when I first started blazin. I was a little too wild for my own good and got bold and grew it in my closet... in my apartment. Yea I know..:smh:.. I went and bought two of those big tupperware like bins that peope keep clothes in.. the blue ones. Took some seeds from a pretty potent mid grade strand and put em in there.. put one on top of the other.. cut a hole in the top for the light, another in the side for a fan and a hose for watering.

First of all.. that shit is a lot of maintenance. I ended up having to throw one out because it was a male but the other one grew well. When it hit that flowering stage the smell was so potent in my whole crib that you would've sworn I was in there smoking. I got paranoid as a result of it but refused to throw it out because it had started to bud.. and they were huge. Plant got so big the branches started slumping to the bottom of the bin so I had to take shoe strings and rig em up. I ended up cuttin em down probably 2-3 weeks too early but the smell was just too much.

The shit I hated was pruning.. cutting all the leaves and shit. Hung em up in the shower on a string for a few days and put em in curing jars for 2 weeks. I ended up getting a little over a pound off of that one plant and it was a good bit stronger than the green I smoked when I got em.

I appreciate that. But this is really all hypothetical. There is no growing material in my house right now. When I actually set everything up and start growing I won't put myself out there to the general public.

Other than actually obtaining seeds, ventilation is my biggest obstacle. I saw a setup on youtube where a dude had a ventilation hose running from his flowering room to outside. Another dude actually had an ether based air freshener (I can't find it for sale anywhere though)that he claimed eliminated the odor. I won't be growing anything until I figure out how not to have the crib smelling like weed.

First off, fuck you. Secondly I'm not planning to grow enough to supply the block, I'm just growing for myself. Nobody, not even my best friends, will know I grow. I'll just have 2-3 plants at a time. Eventually, in the next two years, or sooner, I'm moving back to west coast where I can grow legally.

Bullshit, unless u plan on a major grow you have nothing to worry about. 400watt HPS adds about $30 to your bill. No big deal. Anything over 4000watts might not be a good idea. But you'll be good 400watts will produce a nice personal stash for ya. :yes:

Plus the electric company won't give a damn. your paying them money

This is how it starts. You first start growing for your own consumption and as you become an expert you start to supply the whole block :smh::smh::smh:

They won't. You have to have a "grow operation" going on for anybody to notice anything. 3 or 4 plants is not a "grow operation", you just growing some shit. Still, you are susceptible to snitches.

im fucking with u man. if it's for personal use i doubt it would create any kind of issue with ur electric etc, there are probably hundreds of thousands of people with these kits. DEA isnt going to be kicking down your door for a couple ounces.
 
Best advice I can give you is to tell absolutely no one! 9 out of 10 grows get busted because somebody tricked off usually a friend
 
Just go to some state with medical marijuana, complain about some illness, and smoke all you want.

Don't grow that stuff indoors, I seen a house that was fucked from the humidity. I have posted about the surveillance you don't see, that i have picked up, read up. They will be up on your operation in no time.

Cops are using drug busts to fund their operations, the DEA was fully funded from drug money seizure. They use the money to pad up their salaries and pensions. No different than cops shaking down people in third world countries. Too many people depend on the loss of your freedom for their livelihood (lawyers, police, prison guards). Congress should be looking into why the incarceration rate is six times higher than other countries.
 
do you have a backyard with a wall or fence?

if you are genuinely trying to grow just a couple plants, you could easily do it outside without the expense and hassle of an indoor grow.

especially if you also plant a couple other types of plants to blend in if neighbors happen to see your yard.
 
i throw seeds in a planter all the time and get little sprouts,,,so this was ion my mind too

this is not a good business to get into. grow some vegetables, its legal. go to the farmers market and see the prices they charge.
 
dude seriously, i know BGOL is the place of all places for all kind of shit.

but on this topic (growing herb) i suggest you go to a forum for weed like grasscity.com or some shit
