How come no one calls Dwayne "the Rock' Johnson or Vin Diesel on passing??

THE RACIALLY AMBIGUOUS DUO!!

These brothas are different from light skin black men of the past. In some instances they are seen as white or at least not considered black. Back in the day we used to call that passing. When I was a kid, I read stories about people of color passing for another ethnicities, usually white, but I never really saw too many instances of it. Jennifer Beals caused a bit of a stir back in the 80s when Flash Dance came out but she's never really been considered a black actor. Vin Deisel and Dwayne Johnson on the other hand can cross over and cross back without an issue.

Put them in a predominately white cast flick...they're white.

Put them in a predominately black cast flick...they're black.

Remember Saving Private Ryan? Vin Diesel's half black ass was in that. He plays a character named Carparzo, He was supposed to be Italian.

Johnson is half black and half samoan two groups of color yet he almost ALWAYS plays white in films. Same with Diesel...

We haven't "claimed" them and they haven't made too big a issue to portray black characters.

Hercules is a European albeit Mediterranean character and a black man is playing him and there wasn't much if any issue with it across the board from blacks or cacs..

Those motherfuckers ain't passing. They are Black and STATE they are Black. This isn't some 'Trouble of the World' "Imitation of Life" kind of Black dudes. Yes, they are playing roles where they are not or don't appear to be Black, but they have never denounced their race in anything I have heard them speak in or on.

Save that reach for something else, bruh.

Dwyane Johnson is just himself. In movies he's neither white nor black. He's just him. Even further, Hercules is a myth, so fuck it. What does it matter.

I take issue with The Rock and how he plays both sides of the fence but atleast he is on record as embracing his black heritage and background. Vinn Diesel on the other hand, not so much. I remember very early interviews with him and he explicitly said he didn't want to address the matter or his ethnicity because it was only a distraction. Im talking early interviews post 'Saving Private Ryan' days.

Dwayne Johnson was made to look Caucasian in this film including that long straight hair brown wig they have him wearing given the character he is playing is white. The producers did not emphasis either his black ancestry nor his asian ancestry because they wanted an actor who could pass for Caucasian since he was playing a European character. No one would even be complaining about him being cast in this role if people didn't know his mixed race cause he was made to look like a Caucasian in this film.
------------------
But I agree with a lot of people about "The Rock" being a great choice to play the role of Hercules. Besides, he's not even Black, he's actually mixed Samoan and Black, but looks a lot more Pacific Islander. So his skin complexion is reasonable for the role.
Everyone has to understand that the skin complexion of the Greeks were much different than the Greeks currently. The ones who were outdoors tends to have more of a dark tan skin complexion. However, the ones that stayed indoors like the rich people, politicians, etc. tends to have more of a light skin complexion. So it makes more sense like a nomad warrior like Hercules giving him a darker tan complexion than a light.

If you've seen Kevin Serbo playing as Hercules, they made his character more of a darker skin complexion. Look here and compare The Rock and Kevin Serbo:

That being said, I can see The Rock playing Hercules already and he fits the role perfectly. They have teased us with screenshots of The Rock portraying Hercules without showing his face yet, but you can see his skin color looks a lot like his and you can almost tell that they both also have very similar appearance in terms of physique and facial structure.

------------------------

What nonsense. Greeks were never 'Biracial black'. They were and still are white people, similar to what modern Greeks look like today as most ancient depictions and descriptions from the Greeks themselves clearly show them to be.

-=---------------

Greeks skin complexions are similar to other Europeans and range from fair to olive. They aren't very dark. Personally I have no problem with the Rock in this role cause they made him look European.

--------------

The Rock has features that allow him to play characters of different races, including Europeans. Kellan Lutz looked just as much as Hercules as the Rock does since as a Greek, Hercules had phenotypes common among Europeans that range from fair to brunette types. So having Lutz play him isn't that big of a deal as some may incorrectly believe since there are many Greeks who are fair. And neither is it a big deal that Johnson is playing him since they made him look European, from the straight hair brown wig to the lightly tanned complexion, those are phenotypes common among Europeans. Even Rufus Sewell, who is in the movie, has a tan complexion similar to the Rock.

-----------------
What are you even talking about? This Hercules adaptation is as white as all the other Hercules. The Rock was made to look European in this movie since that is what Hercules is=Greek=European=white. They even stuck a straight haired brown wig on the Rock. If you want a character that isn't white then go pick mythical characters that aren't European. Keep picking European mythical characters like Hercules and you will end up getting white characters.

Neither man has EVER denied their biracial heritage. Nor have they tried to "pass" for white. The roles they've played aren't just for white men...

OP clearly doesn't understand the definition of "passing" because neither of these men have. Stick to making topics about allowing white women calling you "nîgger."

It is kind of hard to call someone out on something that no one can point to a habit/trend/tendency of them doing.

They are racially ambiguous and they maximize the dollar for that demand.

Simple.
