I don't know about "of our time" but they are great. They make a ton of crack/coke songs but they make great songs.

Nah that aint true im from Va and i know from my sis and a few friends that have known them from before they was rapping and the drug culture always been part of they lives. From they Moms, Pops, Uncles etc.. they grew up around it. And even recently their Manager just got busted in Va and has a long list of drug charges against him. So maybe they not drug dealers but they are heavily affiliated.

The Clipse been rapping since the late 80's/90's when they were in groups with Timberland and all the rest of the hot cats coming out of Va,fucking around with Teddy Riley on some mentor shit or following behind Devante Swing(jodeci).

These cats are lyrical architects though. Peep Malice's stanza about conscious rap on "Footsteps."
And peep how they coordinated the vocal projection (reverb) on "I'm Good" to sound as if they are rapping to the listener out of a car window. Fits the vid to a tee.
They get their due from non lazy listeners but it's a dummy environment right now. Wrong time (sales wise) for the Clipse to mature like they are.
