How Blade helped save the comic-book movie

Blade and Ghost Rider are in the process of being rebooted. Snipes is in talks with Marvel to bring Blade back but this time to the MCU. But their is really no need to reboot Blade because the movies can be seen as standalone movies that don't conflict with the MCU unlike Sony's Spider-man or the Hulk.

And rumor has it, from the new Blade comic book writer, that Marvel is planning on expanding Blade's family by giving him a daughter, Fallon Grey, in the comics. Think of a Black Buffy the Vampire Slayer with Blade as her mentor.

Marvel is probably trying to set up a Midnight Sons group for Marvel's Supernatural characters: Morbius, Blade, Ghost Rider, Doctor Strange. They have already stated that Strange is the beginning of the Supernatural in the MCU.

And there is no way Disney will release a R Rated Blade or Ghost Rider. Marvel will will either have to go the Netflix route (smaller budget) or use another studio like Disney's Touchstone Pictures (larger budget) for mature content.
appreciate the update homie but my issue is that it took so fucking long.. In all this time they were able to whip off multiple reboots of other characters yet the character and title that arguably kicked off ALL this shit gets neglected..if Blade looked like this and been as successful...

they would have rebooted that shit 5 times in all this time. When its NOT a white male..that shit can wait.. Same argument for them dragging their feet on Black Widow..in the almost 20 YEARS of this era in comic book movies Marvel has only produced ONE that was female lead..Electra. It sucked but SO WHAT...the first hulk film sucked, the first Wolverine flick sucked..didn't stop then from doing it again and the turn around time was considerably shorter.

So the fact that theyre just NOW doing a reboot doesn't impress me much really.

Well I'm glad Marvel is not trying to impress you because they actually have a plan that will bring Blade into the MCU. It's obvious Marvel knows what they are doing once they get their properties back.

Hulk they did it right
Daredevil, Elekrta and Punisher they did right
Spider-Man they did the right.

Blade and Ghost Rider will be no different regardless of the wait.

For all the talk of how marvels sooo much better than dc..lets be honest their output is much greater than dc but that means theyve had more misses than hits when you really look at it.

don't get me wrong when they he theyve hit out the park (avengers, GotG, Cap America CW) but there were alot of strike outs in there..ALOT.

Now this list is going by critical/audience reaction after the fanfare died down..you can't go by box office because fanboys and overseas inflate those numbers ridiculously.

but heres an example..

Blade - great
Blade II - good
Blade: Trinity - not good

Spider-Man - great
Spider-Man 2 - not good
Spider-Man 3 - not good
The Amazing Spider-Man - good
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 - not good

Iron Man - great
Iron Man 2 - not good
Iron Man 3 - not good

X-Men- great
X2- good
X-Men -The Last Stand - good
X-Men: First Class - great
X-Men: Days of Future Past - great

X-Men Origins: Wolverine - not good
The Wolverine - not good

Fantastic Four - good
Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer - not good
Fant4stic: not good

Hulk - not good
The Incredible Hulk - good

The Punisher - not good
Punisher: War Zone - not good

The Avengers - great
Avengers: Age of Ultron - good

Ghost Rider - not good
Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance- not good

Thor - good
Thor: The Dark World - good

Captain America: The First Avenger - good
Captain America: The Winter Soldier - great
Captain America :Civil War - great

Daredevil - horrible
Elektra - horrible
Guardians of the Galaxy Marvel Studios - great
Ant-Man - good

* For the franchises you start to see diminishing returns by the 3rd film most often.

* As popular and beloved as hugh jackman has been as wolverine (and he'll be the standard comparison for others doing the role) there has NEVER been a decent wolverine movie. The same for RDJ and ironman..theres only been 1 great ironman flick

* Theres only been 1 great Spiderman in 5 tries and a reboot..

Out of 12 franchise flicks (2 or more) only 4 Avengers, Cap, Xmen and Thor have consistent hits. The other 8 have more misses than hits.

In the 4 one shot flicks...theyre batting .500 two good two bad.

Out of 16 overall stories Marvel produced so far.. 6 are good and 10 are not.

so looking at that over all record this massive fanboy circle jerk for marvel is not warrented really.

to elaborate what made Blade such an important flick is it wasnt a good comic book. It was a great action flick that happened to feature a comic book character.
  • It was the first of its kind to feature a superhero not wearing spandex
  • It was made for adults not kids watching cartoons & or buying happy meals. It showed Hollywood that comic films could be taken seriously
  • before the matrix it was 'gun-fu' seamlessl mixing gun play with traditional martial arts action. It its hero in black leather trenchcoat, glasses and techon soundrack before Neo
  • and its the only superhero flick I can think that started a black main character instead of the black character being a sidekick
Blade was and still is ahead of its time and thats partically due to the fact they werent making a comic flick but just a damn good flick

And as I said before, I'm talking about the properties produced by Marvel Studios/Disney, The MCU

13 total movies including Ant-Man and Guardians
ABC's Shield shows
Netflix's Defenders series

All of which you say are at the worst were good to great expect Ironman 2 and 3 since Marvel/Disney has had complete control of their properties.

The majority of the horrible and not good movies were Marvel had little input in the properties were produced by

Fox: X-Men, FF, Daredevil/Elekrta
Sony: Spiderman and Ghost Rider Liongate: Punisher

All I was saying was that the Blade property will be included into the MCU and going by Marvel/Disney's track record regardless of the time it's takes to reboot Blade, I'm confident they will make a great movie.

Blade is the goat

Have y'all ever seen a black person slay 200000 cacs in one movie?

They was all his slaves
Slapping crackas around

Setting em on fire

I clap every time I see that movie
