Homeowners with lawn do you prefer to use electric or gas powered mowers

Since purchasing my home in early December, the lawn in my yard has remained mostly idle due to lack of warm temperature to really cause normal growth. I have fescue grass and save for 1 time, hasn't been mowed since I moved in. There are some local companies that will mow my lawn for $40-$50/visit but I'd like to save money overall plus get a lil extra exercise while I'm at it. What types of mowers do y'all have & are there any particular brands I should look at more or avoid?

Dormant....the grass is dormant.. A nice gas powered, self propelled ,2 in 1 is what you need. If you haven't had your yard treated for weeds already you may want to do so quickly. If you don't get a pre-emerge down in the next week or so them damn wild onions and dandelions are going to take root.

Gas only. Less hassle
Besides, then you don't have to worry bout mistakenly cutting the cord.

I have a gas self-propelled Troy bilt mower, with a 21 inch deck. It's a basic push behind model a single family home on relatively small property.

I wouldn't get electric unless you can see yourself easily trailing a heavy duty extension cord behind you on your property every week and for probably an hour or two, based on the size of the area you'll be mowing.

I honestly haven't used it for a couple of years since getting a landscaper to do the lawn for me. I can understand the allure of wanting to save money by mowing your own lawn. However, when that sun is beating down on your ass while you're mowing

you'll quickly start wishing you had a landscaper. If you're determined to do it yourself, be prepared to mow earlier in the morning or at dusk to stay out of the heat in the later spring and summer.

What products do you use to care for your lawn? I need some tips. I had to relieve myself and my wallet of TruGreen after using them for about 3 years, so I'm going it alone for the first time in a while. I started using TruGreen because I didn't know what I was doing in the first place.

I bought a wireless electrical one from amazon. It had great reviews. The battery died in 2 years and i barely even use that shit.

I use gas. Sometimes I let the grass get a lil high in the backyard and an electric mower won't cut it.

I got .6 acres, I'll ride do this until the wheels fall off, or I can get a better one which I hope to have next spring. This is a craftsman with a 48 inch deck and it takes me about an hour to cut the entire thing. Hopefully my next one has a stronger, faster engine that allows me to get some speed to cut it faster

I just put my cowboy hat on to beat the heat & sun, put my iPod on (actually a 30 GB Zune) and roll out like Optimus Prime. The only part I hate doing is the edging. I'm singing the entire time, too. Soundgarden, Marvin Gaye, Tony rich, Ray Charles, Brad Paisley, nirvana. Anything that comes on

This is my backyard for the most part and as you can see it's a decent size but with some hills. I'm right now in the process of looking at different companies to grade my yard to level it so I don't have to worry about the excessive water saturation caused by heavy rains and the water running down from the nearby homes that are higher up on the hill than I am. If I don't address it soon, I'm gonna be dealing with a severe breeding ground for mosquitoes.

Mowing early in the morning won't be too huge an issue as I'm already getting up early due to needing to take the dog out during the early hours to pee & shit. I just gotta make sure I'm not mowing too early in the morning to piss off my neighbors. No one wants to be waking up at 6AM to a lawn mower.

I use the electric joint here in Sweden. I grew up using the gas junts in Alabama but I've grown to love the electric. Almost like vacuuming.

No gas to deal with, quiet, and gives me nice cut lines. I actually have one with Rechargeable battery, so no cord issues

Any brands I need to stay away from or brands that are sure fire winners from a quality perspective?
Most are all Briggs and Stratton engines, those Honda shits are good but they all do the same thing. Just keep it cleaned and fresh oil every season. Check the spark plug also, get stabil for the gas. Most gas has ethonal in it, it fucks up small hoses they got.

If it gets hot so what, drink water and dress for it. Shades( safety kind), keep one set of clothes you'll use everytime. Buy a uv blockin fishin boonie hat. Do it on a sat morn if no rain. Rinse the bottom when done, let it run for a while then store it.

Nigga that's 1 stack a yr. fuck that. I'll do it myself. I'm off every weekend.
not really.........we dont let them come during the winter months when the grass isn't really growing as fast.
and if we do....it'll be like once a month for those 3 months.

I actually use a lawn service for weeding and fertilization. Go to Home Depot or Lowes and ask what you should apply NOW. Timing is the most important aspect of weed control. While your there ask about their refurbished lawn equipment. .. Torro,Torro,Torro...I kind of let it go last year. ..slacked on the watering..
