I just put my cowboy hat on to beat the heat & sun, put my iPod on (actually a 30 GB Zune) and roll out like Optimus Prime. The only part I hate doing is the edging. I'm singing the entire time, too. Soundgarden, Marvin Gaye, Tony rich, Ray Charles, Brad Paisley, nirvana. Anything that comes on.
I honestly haven't used it for a couple of years since getting a landscaper to do the lawn for me. I can understand the allure of wanting to save money by mowing your own lawn. However, when that sun is beating down on your ass while you're mowing
you'll quickly start wishing you had a landscaper. If you're determined to do it yourself, be prepared to mow earlier in the morning or at dusk to stay out of the heat in the later spring and summer.
Mowing early in the morning won't be too huge an issue as I'm already getting up early due to needing to take the dog out during the early hours to pee & shit. I just gotta make sure I'm not mowing too early in the morning to piss off my neighbors. No one wants to be waking up at 6AM to a lawn mower.I have a gas self-propelled Troy bilt mower, with a 21 inch deck. It's a basic push behind model a single family home on relatively small property.
I wouldn't get electric unless you can see yourself easily trailing a heavy duty extension cord behind you on your property every week and for probably an hour or two, based on the size of the area you'll be mowing.

Most are all Briggs and Stratton engines, those Honda shits are good but they all do the same thing. Just keep it cleaned and fresh oil every season. Check the spark plug also, get stabil for the gas. Most gas has ethonal in it, it fucks up small hoses they got.

I actually use a lawn service for weeding and fertilization. Go to Home Depot or Lowes and ask what you should apply NOW. Timing is the most important aspect of weed control. While your there ask about their refurbished lawn equipment. .. Torro,Torro,Torro...I kind of let it go last year. ..slacked on the watering..
