My co-worker is a down to Earth dude, with a spouse and a couple of kids. At lunch today, he was telling me that his external hard drive is corrupted (see pic above). It still shows 300GB of information on it, but it won't show up on his computer now. The folder shows up but he can't see any of the files. My immediate thoughts were to send it off, since it has videos of his kids on it. That's irreplaceable.
He was hesitant, and then shared that it also has homegrown from before he was married in a secret folder. So, he wants his kids' videos, but isn't willing to send it off for extraction because he doesn't trust some random IT person with the homegrown videos.
Any thoughts from the IT experts on the board? I told him to just ship it, since sharing is against the law, but he wasn't trying to hear that shit...at all.
