This Saturday is my eldest babies first little teenage high school event! She doesn't want to go but i've been begging and picking out dresses for her on the slick. I got her a date and everything!

You guys with teens doing this? Or you guys yourselves? What were your experiences? I wanna hear'em!

She don't know...about the date YET. He likes her. And i floated it out there to him the other day. He's a cute boy! A lil...goofy but...Still. And yes my proud parent glow is BEAMIN! lmao I found the dress too. Now me and the gf are workin on shoes.
 
I went to prom but. . . not homecomings. I just wasn't into all that. . and I don't regret not going :dunno:

Let it be her choice. . or maybe if her friends were going that would help
 
She's a bit antisocial. And we had an agreement that this year...as a Senior she would be social and get involved in that kind of stuff. So she has agreed to go. And yay!!!

7th grade prom - emotionally hurt

8th grade prom - dry humped dancing with no draws

9th grade prom - single

11th grade prom - :D

12th grade prom - :D:D



It is what it is. As long as you think you look good, (and you should), and you are around people you want to be with you is fine. By the time I realized this I was on my last two proms and they do not compare to the other three.


Though I wish someone had did the Cha Cha Slide with me. :hmm: That would have set it over the top.
 
Proms and homecomings are absolutely pointless. It's basically one last chance to mingle with a bunch of assholes who you'll hope to never cross paths with after graduation.
 
From a UK perspective back in the day, we didn't have proms in our schools back then.

Only recently they have introduced it in schools.

Never went to a homecoming or a prom.

7th grade = socially retarded

8th grade = repeat of previous year

9th grade = depression, social retardedness, and bad home life

10th grade = still socially retarded but didn't know, back home life, and still with depression
11th grade = bad home life, got expelled, nobody missed me *shrug*, went to altenative school
12th grade = bad home life, alternative school, still in self-imposed prison of being socially retarded.

7-10th grades I don't think the school had a prom or dance, maybe in 8th grade because we were leaving for HS

It is what it is. Prolly wouldna got a date no way.

wasnt interested in partying with all the lames...... most of my friends were in their early 20's when i was in hs....... there was really nothing for me to relate to on that end..... wher i worked alone granted me access to a world most hs kids only got to experience watching tv or listening to the radio.... why on earth would i want to go some hs dance????? you cant be serious.......:smh:

Even if you were on a level that most weren't...I guess to each his own. I didn't get a long with most of the people in my class either but I still had fun cause I made the best of it by being around those that I really wanted to be around. Looking back though I can't stand some of those days I'm glad I have that split second of a night to say I had that experience...just don't ask me about the whole night cause I don't remember.
