Black Pharoahs, Golden War
Premieres:
Saturday, December 10 @ 6pm ET/PT
Join us for the untold story of the Black-African Kingdom of Kush and its battles with ancient Egypt for supremacy of the Nile Valley. It's a story that culminates in the 100-year rule by Kings of Kush over Egypt. These are the Black Pharaohs that history forgot. Part road movie, part history, our special covers a grueling 8-week, 4,000-mile journey of discovery by British Museum archaeologists. Kush lay in what is now northern Sudan, but its status has been overshadowed by ancient Egypt's grip on our imaginations--until Vivian Davies from the British Museum made the find of a lifetime at El Kab in upper Egypt. In the tomb of El Kab's governor, he uncovered an inscription that tells of an invasion by a Kushite army "that covered the landscape of Egypt." It's a discovery that not only changes our view of history, but demands a celebration of the achievements of the forgotten Black Pharaohs of Kush.
