The $88 million Ballantine luxury apartments in Newark’s historic Ironbound neighborhood has leased more than half of the 280 residences since opening earlier this year.
The six-story luxury property was once the site of the Ballantine Brewery, which was founded in 1840 and was one of America’s oldest beer brands.
The project’s Manhattan-based developer, the Shorewood Real Estate Group, bought the rights from Pabst, and the entrances to the building bear the Ballantine name.
Located at 80 Freeman Street, The Ballantine offers studios to two-bedroom apartments starting at $2,145 monthly, with grand opening incentives of up to two months free.
The building includes 2,600 square feet of retail space and the apartments feature premium finishes including 9-foot ceilings, plank flooring, and smart lock systems.
Amenities include a rooftop deck with New York City views, fitness center, yoga studio, game room with multi-sport simulator, co-working areas, pet spa, and onsite parking with EV charging stations.
“The Ballantine brings modern urban living to the northern edge of Newark’s Ironbound, a neighborhood full of energy and character,” said Larry Davis, CEO of Shorewood Real Estate Group, which partnered with Bridge Investment Group on the project.
