While some big releases from well know Hip Hop artists found their way onto the charts this week, none could unseat the mighty Alicia Keys.
Alicia Keys is still going strong as she lands the #2 spot this week selling over 234k and is well on her way to going double platinum.
And now for the week of many debuts! Scarface's much anticipated M.A.D.E. debuted this week at #17 with just under 63k sold. DJ Drama's Gangsta Grillz debuted at #26 selling 48.7k, while Wyclef's Carnival 2 debuted at a disappointing #28 considering his cross-over appeal. Ghostface's Big Doe Rehab, despite great reviews, still missed the top 40 and instead took #41 with 35.5k sold. Styles P grabbed the # 52 spot for Super Gangster with 28.5 sold. 2Pac 's Best Of 2-part series took the #65 and #77 spot, respectively. Part 1 sold 22.5k, while Part 2 sold just under 19k. Rap legend Too Short debuted Get Off The Stage at #160 this week selling 8k, while Crunk Hits, a compilation album featuring some of your favorite southern rappers, debuted at #196 with 6k copies sold.

The real always seems to go under the radar.

What chu expect. I seen 1 Commercial for BIG DOE REHAB and it was of a Japanese man rolling DOE / MONEY.

Yeah GHOST FANS get it but it didn't showcase the album at all.

:angry:danm im mad freeway floped, he worked on his flow and had 1 of the best albums of the year and him jayz and 50 cent put alot of work into this shit!!!!

I keep trying to tell cats man, that bullshit that get's played on the radiois DOES NOT SELL!

Nobody buy cd's anymore:smh:

nah i would have agreed wit this comment if no hip hop artist was going gold or plat but there r albums that r selling solidly, so that leaves me 2 believe that ppl r jus picking and choosing which albums 2 buy and they mos def r picking the wrong ones. like homie said solja boy is almost gold and thats a danm shame:smh::smh:

How are they picking the wrong choices? By who's standard? Soulja Boy caters to the 12-18 year old market. They buy his albums and ringtones and they are happy. If your favorite rapper cannot cater to his market, or in most cases now, no longer has a market, who can you blame but the artist?

I'm surprised Souja Boy didn't even crack gold yet. The way they play that shit, you'd think he was triple platinum. I believe that the era of the lazy A&R's are over. People at the labels are gonna have to like they did back in the days and really work these records. I've known A&R's who literally didn't do any work for years. Allthey did was show up to EVERY party and industry function they get to while the artist's management did all the REAL work. Those days are OVER. From the ashes rises the Phoenix. Too much Bullshit has been acceptable in hip hop music and the consumer just isn't going for the bullshit anymore. Why should anybody spent their money on an album that was done half-assed. I'm not spenting my money on something that sounds like it was done half-assed.FUCK THAT...DOWNLOAD here I come. If it sounds like they poured their soul into the project then I'll buy it. Niggas out here Flossin and Frontin, meanwhile you only have three songs on 15 song Album. I remeber I paid money to see DIPSET perform and within 10 minutes into the show, this nigga CAM walks to the Front of the stage and VOMITS OFF THE STAGE. I didnt' pay to see THAT SHIT but that's what gave to niggas who did pay to see him. After that,I was DONE. It's time that the artists out there(HIP-HOP ARTISTS) start stepping their game up. Otherwise, Niggas will keep takin their music for free and say,"Fuck the concerts." I personally believe this will WEED out the pretenders. In September, I went to see Talib Kweli and ended up getting to see Kanye West,Mos Def, Swiss Beat and a Bunch of other people perform. So i think its turning around. But Rappers have to step it up because the sales reflected a lack of interest when it comes to spending money. Niggas can get the music but its convincing people to purchase the music that is the problem.

Shit, you're lucky if your whole album isn't bootlegged before you're even in the studio.
