Hillary can't blame Bush for her Kyl-Lieberman Iran Amendment Vote
I knew that Hillary was never going to officially apologize for her war vote. She had many excuses. One excuse was that she did not know that the President was going to "actually" go to war. To be exact:
“Before I voted in 2002,” she wrote, “the administration publicly and privately assured me that they intended to use their authority to build international support in order to get the U.N. weapons inspectors back into Iraq, as articulated by the president in his Cincinnati speech on Oct. 7, 2002. As I said in my October 2002 floor statement, I took ‘the president at his word that he will try hard to pass a U.N. resolution and will seek to avoid war, if at all possible.’ ”
hmmmm....OK, though this is total bull@#^@$&#$& I gave her the benefit of the doubt.
She then said that she was mislead:
“The mistakes were made by this president, who misled this country and this Congress.”
hmmmm....OK, though this is total bull@#^@$&#$& I, again, gave her the benefit of the doubt.
Then she pulled the "bad-intel-I-was-duped" card even AFTER being on the Senate Arms Committee:
“Knowing what we know now, I would never have voted for it.”

What was REALLY known, and made availible to the public, at that time:

The person speaking in the video is William Scott Ritter, Jr. is noted for his role as a chief United Nations weapons inspector in Iraq from 1991 to 1998, and later for his criticism of United States foreign policy in the Middle East. Prior to the US invasion of Iraq in March, 2003, Ritter publicly argued that Iraq possessed no significant weapons of mass destruction (WMDs). He became a popular anti-war figure and talk show commentator as a result of his stance.
Ritter served from 1991 to 1998 as a United Nations weapons inspector in Iraq in the United Nations Special Commission (UNSCOM), which was charged with finding and destroying all weapons of mass destruction and WMD-related manufacturing capabilities in Iraq. He was chief inspector in fourteen of the more than thirty inspection missions in which he participated.

Now fast forward to last week. Hillary has been campaigning on experience and judgement lately to advance her position. A non- binding bill called the Kyl-Lieberman Amendment got passsed with her help. The bill layed the foundation for future armed hostilities towards Iran. In voting for the amendment Hillary crossed party lines to do so as "the machine" is increasing its war rhetoric. Gravel and Edwards called her up on this at the debate:
(Side note: Where was Obama's weigh in? He skipped out on the vote - WTF?!?!?)

After knowing her vote on the war and the Kyl-Lieberman amendment, all the excuses she made to justify her war vote truly get exposed as "excuses". I would have more respect if she came clean with her views on foreign policy and not hide. I am sure she was not expecting for Gravel to call her out like that in the debate. Nor did she expect Edwards to put the smack down on her. No more hiding behind what the Bush administration did or is doing.
