The biggest problem with generational passing is that eventually it works. After decades or centuries of shame, denial, and selective breeding one day your descendants will be considered white.

That explains not only Clark Gable, but Babe Ruth, Rudolph Valentino, J Edgar Hoover, Abraham Lincoln, and countless others. Imitation of Life is a lot more real than most of us want to admit. It might as well have been a documentary.

So was he Black? Not legally. Not socially. Not culturally and not through self-identification. The only thing that connected him with being Black was the possibility of a wake-up call around every corner.

When they say 'well' spoken it is a diss of us as being inferior or unintelligent. They are saying this about Larry Elders and President Obama who spend alot of time around whites being 'well' spoken. Our version of English is no different than a British or Australian person dialect that developed. Because of segregation, a group will speak differently, this does not mean we are less intelligent because of it.

When have you heard them say a British or Canadian person that sound American as being 'well' spoken. They can be 'well' spoken sounding British or Australian.
