Back in the early 90's, some fool had raped a young teenage girl. Her Mother got the cops there in time. Not only did the cops mash him up, the ambulance guys got in on it too.

It's just general knowledge not to fuck with kids in the hood. Shit will always go bad for the person doing so and the law will turn a blind eye.

Strawberry Mansion is closer to downtown compared to other parts of North Philly, got them big ass houses, which is why Mansion is in the name.

It's close to the schuylkill river. So yeah developers got their eye on that part of town. Most of the home owner like your Grandmother were the owners back when I was kid. As that generation passes on, the next generation has no desire to remain because it's been allowed to go crime ridden for so long. That lowers prices. Now come the greedy developers.

Personally, just my opinion, this is all by design.
