Here's how Apple Music compares to Spotify, Tidal, and other streaming services

One question immediately stands out when you start to compare the biggest music streaming services: where are the differences?

The reality right now is that Apple Music and Google Play Music, Spotify and Rdio, and any other pair of other music streaming services sound pretty similar on the surface. They offer about 30 million songs for about $10 a month. They let you play music offline and offer radio services and playlists if you don't feel like picking something yourself. They stream in relatively high-quality audio, and they probably have some videos for you to watch.

But there are some key differences between them, and they could just change whether you'd like to choose one over the other. The biggest differentiator remains Spotify's free, ad-supported tier on desktop and mobile. It's something that no one else can match, and it makes Spotify the obvious starting place to go if you're thinking about trying out streaming music for the first time. Of course, Apple is hoping that its three month free trial can change that, especially since its service is built right into every new iPhone.

Apple has some other highlights that it's hoping will get listeners on board. Siri control could make the service more accessible, and its $14.99 per month family plan is a relative bargain. Apple Music may also turn out to have some exclusives from artists in its social Connect section, though there are legitimate reasons to question how well that'll play out. And then there's Taylor Swift. Maybe her fans all own the album by now, but being the only service streaming 1989 can only help.

To help you find your streaming service of choice, we've laid out all of their major selling points below. They're all available on the biggest platforms, so you don't have to worry about that (Apple Music, however, won't arrive on Android until this fall). Instead, you can sort through the smaller differences that might make a difference to you. Maybe it's lossless audio, maybe it's the right price. Hopefully one of them has everything you're looking for.

Honestly to me Amazon wins cause I already have prime.

All the rest I can do for free cause ads don't bother me.

Pandora is just fine.

bgol music group has all the songs I need to make my own mix

I'm sure they'll be a thread this summer on there with mixes soon too

gotta remember breh...the vast majority of people arent very internet savvy...if it wasnt for FB, IG, twitter etc...most people wouldnt even use the internet....

streaming services make finding music 'easy' for these types...i was always having to explain to people where i get my music from...

try explaining torrents to someone like this :smh:

I thought prime would be the shit but they don't allow you to play anything but the "prime" songs which is shit THEY pick and only 2 or 3 per album. Fuck that

I don't see the point in paying for this when you can use apple radio for free, am I missing something?

Okay, so I just downloaded this shit, right. And now I can't add songs from my hard drive to my phone.

It says that the shit is in the cloud, but I don't know how to get to that motherfucker. I just want to add music to my phone like I could before.

Somebody help.

why the hell is Taylor Swift the notable feature? It should be Dr. Dre The Chronic which has never been available on streaming or iTunes.

I have Amazon Prime, but I've never used their streaming. Didn't know they had so few songs available.

I have Spotify

And dudes too cheap to pay $10 :smh:

I see Smokey Robinson on the BET Awards. I go search Spotify.

You think that's more difficult than trying to find stuff on youtube or download? Muchless the quality.

I think I'll keep my 10 bucks in my pocket, I download all my shit from here and urbanleakz, I simply have no need for a streaming service

I've been using the free version of spotify for a while but didn't feel like paying for the monthly account because they didn't have alot of music. Apple music beats there catalog so far and the interface is pretty nice i'll probably buy after the 3 months (nice perk as well to try it out)

In the comparison it says they have about the same amount

I'm running the Black(no ads) version of Pandora on my Android with no issue. Didn't like the randomness of songs on Spotify that shit is way to phucked up to let it just play.

Looking at the chart, with the exception of Amazon, its $10 for 30 Million songs. The only added value I see is the Lossless of Tidal. Unless you can sift the through what artist or albums are actually missing from each service doesn't seem like it matters...just pick one.
