Health: Brothers, do you go to the doctor every year for a physical?

Do you take FULL advantage of your medical insurance?

I'm 35 and go once a year. As black men, we should go. We neglect our health far too often. You only have one body. You better take care of it.

To the fathers on the board while you making sure all the kids get checked out before going back to school..

make sure you do the same for yourself.

50. Yes. Prostate cancer ain't no joke if not caught early.

Yes, I go every year. I hope I can be like my 80 year old dad who is not on any meds and he climbs the stairs like a 40 year old:dance:

Nawl. I don't have insurance, I'm self employed.

But I just went to an urgent care clinic and got a panel of STD tests...

EVERYTHING NEGATIVE!

Now I just gotta hold it in the road

Oh yeah, I can talk to my dr about anything! Trust me, I mean everything!! Funny thing is, I have friends who are afraid to ask their dr for Viagra!!

True story, one kat I know was shitting blood for a year! But was afraid to mention it to his dr!! Long story short, he ended up with colon cancer!! Went thru a year and a half of treatment!! Brotha and sistas, have a open relationship with ur family dr!! If your dr won't answer your medical questions, drop him or her and find a dr that will be upfront with ya!!

Oh yeah, doctors are people too, don't let them act as if their god!!

I have a chronic health condition so I go every 3 months for a less intrusive check-up & refills.

Everyone should go at least once a year.

Get a good Doc too.

My Doc pulls out at least a 3 page long spreadsheet of all the test that were performed, what the average range is and where I stand. He goes item by item

Don't be afraid to ask your Doc for anything...thats what they are there for.

You want to live your life as healthy and long as possible.

You must be joking. In this day and age of the Affordable Care Act, there's no reason not to have health insurance, unless you're unfortunate enough to be living in a Republican led state that doesn't want residents to have health insurance or somehow can't pay the premium.

I was getting a yearly physical before I got insurance because my job required it. Got one this year and the insurance paid for it and I got $75 coming to me for taking a PSA.

I go see my doctor every six months,I go see my cardiologist every couple of months depending on my heart is looking....

Any tips on finding a good doctor. :dunno:

Usually its word of mouth...family friends even a co-worker.

My wife's ob gyn recommended a doctor for her I went to him and then he recommended a dermatologist and allergist and then that doctor recommended a cardiologist...so on ad so.

They all know each other and go to those same professionals themselves so that worked for us.
