Projectors are nice --- until the bulb blows.
Then it's :angry::angry::angry:
When you find out how much it costs to replace.
Also, they don't do so well in rooms with light. They room has to be damn near pitch black to get good black level.

The room that that has the projector has no windows. Lights are limited to a small desk lamp. Bulb cost are no big deal. 1st time visitors are like DAMN!! thats a projector. Then I blow them away with Call of Duty MW2. Then its a :itsawrap: :D:yes:

Basically...I sold on projectors...I have a 32" Samsung in my game room but ehh if it wasn't for sports I wouldn't watch that shit @ all...I started watching movies on my projector and now playing video games and it's just boring watching shit on my tv now...although video games do show up waaaay more clearer on the tv than the projector...I buying another projector soon...the 1 I have is mostly for work...but I have my eyes on another 1 where the image comes out so damn clean it's not even funny...I seen it @ work...need to get the model # to see how much it'll run me

You have the best TV on the thread and so do I! ----> Pioneer elite 151

I actually have three more:

Toshiba Regza 46" LED (don't remember the model number from last year, but it is backlit LED).

Panasonic 50" Plasma in the girls room (old school, does just 1080i or 720p).

Hitachi 32" LCD in my son's room (way old, he's getting hand me downs).

I've been contemplating 3D, but bah.... they can keep those glasses.

I just bought this yesterday.
Vizio 42" Class LCD 1080p 60Hz HDTV, E420VO

I never thought I'd have such a hard time shopping for TVs but this is what I ended up with. Was this a good buy?

Vizio is a solid brand but I've read reviews of them dying out early. May have been flukes, just get some type of warranty on it.

CO-SIGN....I dont even care about my TV for doing anything but playing games, for watching sports and movies the projector is where its at! The cost of the replacement bulbs are proportional to the cost of the projector, so if you got a $1000+ projector you are gonna look to spend about $150-$400 on a replacement bulb...but depending on the brand of projector and the usage time the bulbs can last a long time. Im bout to start chargin admission up in my place and give AMC and Sports Bars a run for they money!

HDTV - Samsung 50" 1080p 600hz ($1,200)

Projector - Epson Home Cinema 8100 1080p ($1,600 when it first came out)

Home Depot Paint - Movie screen paint on wall to project on ($100)

The look on Ninjas Faces - PRICELESS

Just picked up a 50 inch Panasonic plasma for the great room....

Also have a 41 inch LCD in the bedroom...and a 61 inch Samsung LED in the Man...actually,Teen-Cave.

This is in the sitting area in the bedroom. It's a 42 inch LG LED with internet conectivity. I can watch youtube and all that shit on it. The installer did a clean job, you can't see any wire and all the other components, dvd player etc are in my wife's closet and you can control them directly from the TV.

40 inch 120 hz led. It's cool. You can't go wrong with samsung

FUCK GOOGLE TV!!!!! THANK GOD FOR AMAZON RETURN POLICY

Interesting...thanks...I wonder if it makes a HUGE difference...my wall is just white

Yeah it makes a difference, I had an all white wall in a room with big windows and lots of ambient light, the picture would easily get washed out and unless I had complete darkness the pic still wasnt full bright. What I did is adjust my projection to the size I wanted for the room, and painted just the area of the screen with the grey silverscreen paint and the rest of the wall a darker color like black or brown. The contrast makes a HUGE difference and the grey helps reduce the washout from the ambient light.
