HBO:The Night of..Official Discussion Thread

Grabbed her hand at the bar too. He already told her she was attractive a few episodes ago..... Hopefully he won't make a fool of himself though.

That old lawyer was trying to get at her too! He was mixing some horny goat weed powder in water while talking to her on the phone, asking to come over to help her "work on the case."

Yeah homeboy is messing up bigtime

this show represents my biggest fear...getting locked up just even temporarily for a false accusation or w/e...if he doesn't want to be completely victimized he has to completely adapt...the crazy shit is in a situation like that even if you get shit cleared up...you coming out worse than you went in...it's just a matter of how much worse...shit fucked up all the way...anyway just seen him get the knuckle tats so lemme go watch the rest

Ok. I'm still digging the show, but it seems like each week, they are going to provide some "new" information that casts suspicion from one character to another.

Last week it was Bodie's boy. This week, they basically give a motive to the Limo driver, The stepfather and Naz.

It's not the worst way to structure a show but it feels unoriginal. The Killing set the standard for this kind of drama (and Twin peaks before that) .

The best part of the show is Nas's descent into the Prison underworld. Each episode, they show how he's both completely unprepared for new situations, but still adapts with the quickness (cell phone hustle).

^^^ the killing was a great whodunit show (can only speak on the 1st two seasons)...agreed about nas' descent into hell being the best part of the show

i actually thought for a second that John was the killer. My theory was that he set it all up so that he could get a big case and get Naz off, just for the recognition and fame. Everyone is clowning him, but if he proves Naz didnt do it, thats a step up for him. but im doubting that now.

yeah but he would have had to have known that he was gonna pick her up and go back to her crib; fuck up by breaking in to get his shit, get caught driving away, etc....

Some of yall forgetting the blood in the backyard?

Along with the blood on the front gate on the first floor?

I said stepfather was shady from jump.
Now he's got a motive to do the killing.
Knows the woman is a drug addict. Easily done if they can prove it.
They still have to prove that Nas actually did it.

Seriously, play out what he went thru and put yourself in his shoes. Would you, with common sense of done half the shit he did?

Theres one of two ways to of handled that, either call the laws and tell them the truth or clean your prints from everywhere and walk calmly to your car and get da fuq outta dodge. Act like nothing happened...

So what would you of done.

I am still not sure what I would do and believe either way I am literally "screwed!" Not to disparage NYPD, but they are very lackadaisical when it comes to collecting evidence that would exonerate an innocent person. Furthermore, don't expect any favors from the prosecutor (google Henry Wade, Dallas District Attorney, and his "convict at all cost" protocol and read about Project Innocence Texas). One more important thing you need to take into account when you think about "what would you do?" When you are black (or in this case black=Muslim) the "Presumption of Innocence" becomes "Guilty until proven Innocent"(I'll reference the Central Park jogger case if you need an example).

My theory... step dad hired Duane Reade to do it for a cut of the money.
BINGO!....................

...well maybe,i think he was so drugged up Mr Reade dragged him downstairs to do the deed, got disrupted then fled out the backdoor.

But of course, and being black, I would of wiped all traces of my ass being there, and been out. Ain't no way, I'm waking up and a white chick dead in the crib and they not arresting the black guy. I'm gone like Speedy Gonzalez but walking slowly to the car like nothing happened.

And yes been on tons of crime scenes first hand, worked for NYC EMS for over a decade, it's why the show is so real to me, the mannerisms of NYPD is on point. But seen many a crime scene get tampered with or tainted prior to detectives coming and shutting it down. Like even the first floor gate, wonder if police noticed the blood on it.

I'm not exactly Columbo but aren't you supposed to have your defense and witnesses in order before the trail begins? The prosecution is already in witness examination and the defense is trying to get subpoenas to bring in witnesses? Pino spends more time investigating dermatologists than suspects. Great show though.

Maybe but to stab someone up like that is pure rage and hate. Stepdad put in a lot of work to get at mom, I see him being the one.

And he's at court to see nas go down so he can get the house and doe.

Even a hired killer won't stab someone up like that.

We looking at her with ""Prison Eyes", she's the softest prettiest thing that we see so she fine :roflmao:

dont she get finer every episode, I always said them dark indians are the fine one,s the more cracker they look the more unappealing and boring they are to me...

and gotdang you bgol got me hooked on this show, and that gotdam vice principal show, and that gotdam stranger things show..

bgol always keepin a real knigga abreast....

Yo is this indian in jail turnin into a beast or what..

his ass maybe found innocent and he wont want to leave that bitch..

gettng tatts smoking ass crack eight balls and shit...

we're on part 6 of an 8 part set.
will it be solved by part 8 or will it go on to season 2?
maybe like "True Detective" it will be a new case in Season 2 but will follow Stone deeper into NYC underbelly world.

The show may just be a view into NYC criminal justice so the key is showing how the one who seems innocent gets caught.

Step-Dad did it, which the cops never really considered due to laziness and profiling tendencies, even and especially the "subtle beast". The prosecutor is a female Columbo, and that's being nice!

ok; just starting to watch tonight's ep on dvr.... but I had to stop in to comment on Stone scooping the damn cat litter.... up on his fucking kitchen counter..... what in THEE fuck??? That's nastier than his damn feet.

That's straight cac shit, I've seen it live and in living color.....:smh:

I've said it before in this thread...being black in this country it doesn't take anything near as dramatic as what's happening in 'the night of' to get locked up...esp. for younger brothers w/ limited options/resources and understanding of the law/their rights :(

man listen,

lets not even talk about how fucked up the system is,

you know how many times they locked up young dudes for some bullshit, and the paper work got all fucked up,

and the young cats got lost in the system, spending months in jail for shit they shouldve never been arrested for....

one dude stayed in rikers island for five months cause he wasnt informed his bail was only two dollars...

I kid you not.

ya I remember that as well as the 16 y/o who was accused of stealing a bookbag or some shit and sat in there for 3 years w/o a fucking trial...released eventually but couldn't cope w/ what happened to him in there and killed himself

Nope too easy steps dad was looking guilty in the 1rst episode. Not him.

This is what I'm hoping. The step dad is just a red herring.

I'm loving the way they have all these people that you think might be the killer. Watch it be someone out of left field like the main detective with the bad comb over (probably not but you never know).

Naz is fucking up. Getting inked up, doing drugs. Fucked up that cat got the young boy servicing him at nights :smh:

Yeah that was a sad scenario. I remember a video of cats trying to get at him on video. He was going through it inside.

Fucked up but growing up I remember just always lifting and boxing just preparing for prison just incase. I was literally a 3.4 gpa, never been a trouble, always on a athletic team but seeing everybody you grow up with getting locked up had my mentality warped.
