HBO: The Leftovers

And then they set a timer on the score board?? With all that time they could have rushed them then and apprehended them. Weird fucking show but I couldn't stop watching.

How has ol boy returned from the dead twice tho? Why didn't grandpa Chester come back from the dead? Did he not want to? Is there a limit on the amount of times that you can die and return? Can you not die in miracle? "THAT'S NOT YOUR BABY!"

* I think this is best for AL involved this is great work and in particular in Damon's case he NEEDS to have a beginning middle and end in place. Seems like his best writing /producing comes from a solid structure and end point.

‘The Leftovers’ Renewed For Third & Final Season By HBO

HBO has given a third-season order to The Leftovers but that will be the supernatural drama’s final run. Created by Damon Lindelof and Tom Perrotta based on Perrotta’s book, The Leftovers went through a creative makeover for Season 2, which has been well received, despite the lack of recognition by the SAG Awards and the Golden Globes. (The series recently received a WGA Award nomination for its second season.) The Leftovers‘ ratings have been modest as best, putting its long-term prospects in question, but the series and Lindelof, for whom this has been a passion project, have been well liked by HBO and Warner Bros. TV brass, and a third season will allow the creators to close out the story.

“It is with great enthusiasm that we welcome back Damon Lindelof, Tom Perrotta and the extraordinary talent behind The Leftovers for its third and final season,” said HBO’s Michael Lombardo. “This show has proven to be one of the most distinctive HBO series and we are extremely proud of its unrivaled originality, which has resulted in such a passionate following by our HBO viewers. We admire and fully support Damon’s artistic vision and respect his decision to bring the show to its conclusion next season.”

“I have never, ever experienced the level of creative support and trust that I have received from HBO during the last two seasons of The Leftovers,” said Damon Lindelof. “Tom, myself and our incredible team of writers and producers put tremendous care into designing those seasons as novels unto themselves…with beginnings, middles and ends. As we finished our most recent season, it became clear to us that the series as a whole was following the same model…and with our beginning and middle complete, the most exciting thing for us as storytellers would be to bring The Leftovers to a definitive end. And by ‘definitive,’ we mean ‘wildly ambiguous but hopefully mega-emotional,’ as all things related to this show are destined to be.”

In the second season of The Leftovers, which ended its run on Sunday, the show expanded on the original concept of The Rapture explored in Perrotta’s novel, continuing to focus on the ways ordinary people react to inexplicable events. Season two told a tale of two families, the Garveys and the Murphys, whose lives intersected in surprising ways, following the Garveys from New York to eastern Texas, where one small town, nicknamed “Miracle,” and its residents had been spared during The Departure.

I finally caught the finally. Felt like a bit of a let down after last seasons final 2 episodes. I knew Meg wasn't going to actually blow up the bridge because they clued us in to her theatrics with the stunt she pulled with the school bus. I just don't know how it served her purpose to have the G.R. storm the town. It's not like it changes the fact that a) No one disappeared from that town and b) Something really fucking mystical/magical/mysterious is going on in that town.

Got more questions than answers.

1. Kevin is resurrected, but this time without the benefits of being buried in the "Jarden"
2. What happened between Erica and the twins? All this time we were lead to believe that John was the reason the family was on edge. Did their grandfather molest them?????????
3. The earthquakes are important, but why? I need to go back and watch the season 2 prologue again. I feel like there is a Lindelhoff type clue I'm missing.
4. Tom (Kevin's step son) - Was he doing a double agent move or was he really trying to join the Remnant? Or is he just fucked up in the head a bit more than it appears
5. What the fuck is the significance of the dog running away.

Yo, I went back and watched the first episode of this season. There was a huge hint as to what the 3 girls were planning in it, but it was subtle. You had to have been real attentive to catch it. Also, I never realized that the tribal woman whole clan disappeared when she went out to take a piss. Previously I had thought she was along all along and the earthquake just blocked her from where she was going.

It took here tribe but kept her alive, then took her life and led her with the eagle and kept her baby alive.

just finished season 1.

it was captivating, but i am kinda lost

as to the overall theme. mabey i need to watch it twice.

I think the overall theme at least for season 1 is centered around Loss and Guilt. People got caught up in what happened to the 2% but that really isn't the issue the show is trying to deal with. It's about how people deal with Loss and getting over their guilt around that loss.

1. He was resurrected, pretty big benefit.
2. Yes, the grandfather molested John
3. The opening sequence with the dying and someone taking the baby is Jarden (at least from what i read from another source)
4. He is a follower. First he follows the hugging guy, his mother, and the Guily Remnant faction.
5. They sensed something was afoot.

The Leftovers Will Leave One Regular Cast Member Behind for Season 3

The Leftovers is moving to Australia for itsthird and final season, and most of the cast is packing their bags for the trip. TV Linereports that the regular cast from first season, including Justin Theroux, Carrie Coon, Amy Brenneman, Christopher Eccleston, Liv Tyler, Margaret Qualley, Chris Zylka, and Janel Moloney would be back. But, hold on! The entire Murphy clan from season two will also be joining them, meaning we'll get more intense scenes with Regina King, Kevin Carroll, Jovan Adepo, and Jasmin Savoy-Brown. Scott Glenn, who played the father of Theroux's Kevin Garvey has been bumped up to series regular. Left behind is Ann Dowd, who played the magnificent chain-smoker of Kevin's nightmares, Patti Levin. (No word on whether she might return again as a guest star to haunt Kevin's psyche.) Until then, we'll always haveJeopardy!
