The Leftovers Renewed for Season 2

The Leftovers won’t get left behind by HBO: The network has just renewed the Damon Lindelof–Tom Perrotta drama for a second season. The pickup isn’t a surprise, since ratings for the show have been solid throughout its season-one run, and, more important, they've been consistent: Most of the people who watched the premiere are sticking with the show. Leftovers, averaging a same-day audience of between 1.6 million and 1.8 million viewers so far, is also doing a better job of holding onto the True Blood audience than Aaron Sorkin’s The Newsroom did when it aired behind TB last summer. While some critics have been vocal in their displeasure with The Leftovers’ creative direction (or lack thereof, as some have charged), another segment has been impressed with what Lindelof and Perrotta have done. The first-season finale of The Leftovers debuts September 7.

Damn, really? For me Leftovers is kinda hard to get into. I try, but it doesn't hold my interest. The Strain has been pretty much really good from jump. I mean, as with anything, gotta suspend disbelief, but....

I just caught the show for the first time this past Sunday at a friend's. I was about to watch "THE STRAIN". But I've been disappointed with it so far.

I became addicted right off to "THE LEFTOVERS" Especially to that actress that plays Nora Durst (Carrie Coons). She had a really intimate, low-key persona. As with the tone of the show. It lets things happen naturally. And I like the spiritual bent. The idea of people just disappearing, and how the "survivors" cope is fascinating shit to me.

Now I have to start downloading this because I don't have cable.

This makes up for HBO cancelling "ENLIGHTENED".

I read the book spoiler on wikipedia. I encourage my brethen to do the same. I wish I could expound more but I know there are some in here who actually want to see it unfold on a week by week basis....me on the other hand, I was done after episode 3. BE FOREWARNED BEFORE READING....There is very little variance between the book and the show AT THIS POINT so one could infer that the rest of the season is literally "by the book".

Man, I'm so pissed at myself for sticking with this meandering, frustrating-assed show!....Now that I'm in this deep, I'm pretty much compelled to see it through. For every semi-riveting episode likes ones that focused on the minister and Nora Durst, you get two pieces of hot garbage like tonight's episode. What the heavenly fuck was that all about?? I was rooting for the whiny-assed daughter to off herself with the gun; either that or for that dog to eat her. At this point I don't even care what happened to the departed...I just want 4 things to happen:

1) Kill the daughter...please...anybody!
2) Show the mayor nekkid...a lot.
3) Eliminate the Holy Wayne plot line.
4) Explain once and for all what the fuck the GR are up to.

I'm watching this show...and I still don't know what hte fuck i'm watching. Like what's the end game? Where is this show going? I almost stopped watching the shit after the 1st episode but thankfully the episodes got better after that.


This might be one of those shows made for binge watching because watching it every week.....this shit is not holding my interests.

The daughters just acting out (being a bitch) behind losing her family. i can kinda understand somewhat.
Resentment for mom leaving, dad not being able to make her stay, not having her brother there to talk to.
Whole family torn apart because of her mothers selfishness, and not for a good reason, so no one sympathies with her like they do the other families.
