The story so far has been good, its has got me hooked.

Damon Lindelof already said they have no intention on answering the question of what happened to the missing people. To me that makes the show pointless, and I can't figure out how this guy keeps gettin work after him and Ridley Scott fucked up Prometheus

I read the book spoiler on wikipedia. I encourage my brethen to do the same. I wish I could expound more but I know there are some in here who actually want to see it unfold on a week by week basis....me on the other hand, I was done after episode 3. BE FOREWARNED BEFORE READING....There is very little variance between the book and the show AT THIS POINT so one could infer that the rest of the season is literally "by the book".

I can't defend that at all and your right.
But it all made sense in the book...which NEVER really explained what happened either.
The thing is I know how some things are gonna pan out so I am much more patient and if they continue to stick with those story arcs it will be a nice surprise.
And it so interesting how some characters worked so well in the book but come off as SO annoying on screen like the daughter and the pregnant asian girl etc.
In the book its the daughter's FRIEND who comes off as more annoying teenager in my opinion.
Now he adding some LOST stuff here and there but it doesn't seem to be hurting the show overall.
I'm sticking with it cause the acting is good and i like the way they are spotlighting individual characters.
I think he at LEAST has to reveal why the dogs are going nuts before the season ends or he is going to lose the audience he has left.
I know some of y'all have read Derrick A. Bell's book "Faces at the Bottom of the Well: The Permanence of Racism" If you did, you remember there was a short story in there where some Aliens come to the US and basically offer all the governments of the world the cures to all the cancers and uncurable diseases in exchange for ALL THE BLACK/AFRICAN people on the planet.
I wonder if The LeftOvers is some shit like that where 10% of the worlds population had to be sacrificed to some higher intelligence in order to save the world and the government is just keeping it quiet to stay in power.

I just caught the show for the first time this past Sunday at a friend's. I was about to watch "THE STRAIN". But I've been disappointed with it so far.
I became addicted right off to "THE LEFTOVERS" Especially to that actress that plays Nora Durst (Carrie Coons). She had a really intimate, low-key persona. As with the tone of the show. It lets things happen naturally. And I like the spiritual bent. The idea of people just disappearing, and how the "survivors" cope is fascinating shit to me.
Now I have to start downloading this because I don't have cable.
This makes up for HBO cancelling "ENLIGHTENED".
