I never knew about that beard analogy.
I always wondered why fighters never wore beards in the fight.

I always thought because it was illegal. Don't know what the rule is now -- of course nothing is uniform in boxing -- but I've heard of commissions before making fighters trim their beards down at least before fights. It had something to do with a guy's whiskers could chafe the other boxers face when they were locked up in clinches.

This isn't a fight where you even have to waist your time with the scoring, it wasn't even competitive.

It was a good fight to make in the sense that it got some decent press and helps set up the bigger Kovalev fights for the summer and hopefully Ward in November.
