I plan on having kids after 35, but I'm a guy so I don't have alot of risk factors mainly just for women. We men produce sperm up until our mid 70's and produce it a certain amount every minute..
I hate when all these articles post these stats. They always forget to say that if you look at the number of Down Syndrome babies, women under 30 have the majority of them. That is because they are having more children in general. So young women should be concerned about this and get their prenatal care too.Statistics shows that for 40 year old woman a danger to give birth to a baby with Down syndrome is 9 times higher, than for 30 year old one. For 40 year old woman a probability of giving birth to a baby with Down syndrome is less 1%. And, although risk increases with age, for 45 year old woman it's 3%, i.e. if looking from other side, a probability of giving birth to a healthy baby is 97%.

I have to be honest--I'm glad I "kicked it" in my younger years than trying to go clubbing in my 40's. To each his own I suppose.
As a man, I'm worried. I don't want to chase my children from a wheelchair. I'm approaching mid-30s, and kids aren't even on the horizon.
