Just wondering??? Lately I have had a strong urge to compose of a book and want to know what I could use as a guide not to go Main Stream but if it does the better. Deep down I along with all of us on a day-to-day basis experience diffrent events whether at work or at play that maybe can benefit someone else just to share with them that they are not alone. My book would intel, since I am working in the military environment, how rules and the way people think and the broad scope that we go through here is similiar on the outside. What I mean by that is entrepeneurs or supervisors that maybe running off workers instead of having them work cohesively with each other can benefit with what a military member suffers from but can't voice opinions like on the outside world. Over the past 7 years I have been keeping a sheet that I entitled "What I hate about the "CENSORED". I am not going to point a finger at a specific branch but you get the idea. I am just using thoughts that have occurred through my time to help civilians and even other military workers cope when they want to flip out. Please give some inputs if you have a chance or guide to make my process smoother. Maybe one day you can read what was accomplished.

Know a few who have written books, the hardest part is the sell. Getting people to read. If you know what you want to write and whom you plan on selling to and why, that's a start. Create an outline, write from the heart, go back and edit later, find a damn good editor, and submit until you can't handle the rejection any longer, and if you so choose, self publish.

Type in keywords into your browser bar like :self publishing, new author, how to get published, shit like that.

First off, I am currently writting a book, here is a heads up on what to expect.
1. once your book is complete you are going to have to put up at the least $1000.00 of your own money to get it off the ground.

2. most new authors don't sell many if any of their first book. Expect to buy a few hundred of your own book just to get it to make sellers lists.

3. you are going to have to try to market your book on your own to try to get it to sell.

good luck

Step one: Learn proper grammar. Ask if anyone has ever written one.

:smh:
True for formal writing in college, but if you are writing a book you basically write like you are talking to your best buddy. If you read Bills Gates's "Business at the speed of light." you will be surprised how this brilliant man writes as if he is talking to his buddy. Many author's do this, some write with exquisite complexity and some write as if they are talking to a child. A book is the personal thoughts and preferences of that individual.

So this means that you'll be writing "The Tranny Guide to Role Playing and Racial Slur Etiquette"

You're going to need to use correct grammar and spelling when you are not SPECIFICALLY writing characters' dialogue, using some historical text or something like that. Regardless of who your target audience is, or what level of writing your book is, it's probably won't get published with spelling and grammatical errors. If it somehow does, it will only make the author seem uneducated and probably turn off most readers. In any case, that's why EDITORS have jobs.

I have 2 friends who tried to become writers (notice I say tried). Their shit went through so many revisions that they practically became grammar gurus during the process.

I am a published author. The Pain of Vengenance is my current work. I self publish. The first thing you should do is write. Don't worry about all the other stuff until you have a work ready to be edited and sold. Dan Poynter has an excellent book on publishing. Yes its tough but if you believe in your work and it is good, it will sell. Make sure you start going to book conferences
