Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows

Good drop...but I'm actually gonna buy this one if I can get my hands on a copy...thanks for reminding me that shit drops today...

I don't think there's a bigger Harry Potter fan than my daughter. As a matter of fact, she went to London this weekend for the midnight release, even though the dollar is at a 25 year low against the British pound.

I ask my 10yr old was he interested and he said no. Then went to Kroger to get some ribs and there in the middle of the aisle was a huge pallet of them. Seems most kids love them or hate them. I was hoping mines like them so I could get him to read a book.

get a book about something your child loves - make him read it if you have to

Yes get that young man reading although the Harry Potter series is advanced reading for the normal 10 y.o. imo...I hated to see readers in my classes struggling with that book just because it was popular...get books that cater to his interests...shit read them too maybe y'all can have like a session where y'all hang out and talk about the book y'all read...

Wifey and I fucked around and read that first book at the suggestion of one of our students in our foundation and have been hooked ever since. Got the whole (except this new one) series in hardback plus all the movies on DVD.

Series dropped off after "Prisoner of Azkaban" (best movie and NO DOUBT the best book of the series). Now it's less entertainment and just a need to know how things play out.

J.K. Rowling has more money than Elizabeth II due to these seven books. Wow.

Funniest line about "Harry Potter" came from one of my uncles that saw the books at our house a few years back. He kinda looked at me sideways and was like, "Y'all readin' this 'Harry Potter' shit?"

I was like, "Yeah.....and?"

Uncle asked, "They got any Black people in 'em?"

I was like, "Yeah. There are Black wizards and witches."

Uncle said, "Yeah? What are they flyin' around on. Dustmops?"

I was on the floor for days.

:smh:

 @ Dustmops!

The foreshadowing in the Prisoner of Azkaban was excellent, if I hadn't watched that first, I wouldn't have read any of the books. Alfonso CuarĂłn did that book Justice. The last movie was crap, and pacing disaster!

Well said!

On Chapter 6 right now. For fear of coming across a spoiler I'm not going to read the responses in this thread until I'm done.

Best fiction series I've ever read hands down.

Haven't read the books just caught the movies. I picked up the series during Prisoner of Azkaban and haven't looked back. Of the 3 films I've seen I think the newest one was the best. Goblet of fire was dope too.

I just finished the book.
Got it at midnight last night and been reading it all day today.
You don't want to read this shit at no computer, get the book, I would have paid $50 for the experience. Awesome awesome awesome...

The books are very hard to put down once you crack the first chapter...I read the first one in 6 hours and that was considerably shorter than the other books in the series...read the last 2 books in like 2 days...didn't get a chance to pick up a copy yesterday...will try today...

i find it hard to believe that it's the best fiction ever...i guess that's according to taste.

i'm glad for the writer, i hope the fans are satisfied with all of it.

that being said...

...i still don't give a shit about this.

geeking out over Star Wars and the Hobbit/Lord of the Rings was enough for me, and that was all in the 70's and 80's.

Give them a shot Buk. They're an easy read and the story is actually pretty engaging. The movies more or less are just "highlights" of the events in the books.

Trust me, I would've NEVER believed I would've enjoyed them to the extent I did but 8 years later.....

whereas earlier, before all the hype over these books i may have given allowances for things that i found to be problematic...

...i know know i'd be overly critical of things i may have let slide.

they've built up my expectations so that i KNOW i couldn't be pleased.

dude, you come off like a band geek. don't you have some Jergens to buy?

After finishing that shit. She ended that on a good one. That shit was epic!

I wasn't suprised at the chap. that contained Snape's Tale. Anyone with common sense knew that shit, but it was interesting to see it play out.

Oh well!

it was hot shit....didnt like the ending tho. too happy happy joy joy love love....i hope they make it into 3 hour movie.

Imagine that...seeing as you haven't read the books.

I will say b4 my girl put me onto this shit...like most cats I know I thought, "Why would I read that shit?"

Finished it last night and thought that shit was dope. She's too great a writer to put down the pen altogether. She shouldn't revisit Harry Potter but she should write something different.
