Friendly reminder that when the initial reporting came out Thomas defended his actions by saying other SC judges said it was okay, so there's definitely more corruption we don't know about. “Early in my tenure at the court, I sought guidance from my colleagues and others in the judiciary, and was advised that this sort of personal hospitality from close personal friends, who did not have business before the court, was not reportable.” Also, they weren't friends before he was on the SC.

He has to report everything he receives except personal hospitality.

As long as Harlan Crowe wasn't seeking official action, he can take the bribes. Since the gift was like a scholarship to his family member, it is in a grey area.

I don't know what his intentions were attacking affirmative action. Here is my logic, without affirmative action, colleges only accept a tiny percentage of us, than we would be forced to work at manufacturing, high-skilled jobs. It would change our political calculus as we would vote for political candidates supporting fair trade.

Nobody calls the athlete wearing shoes made overseas a coon that deprives us of good paying jobs and is building some off brand building on a college campus.
