Parsons, who left Houston to sign a three-year, $46 million deal with Dallas as a restricted free agent, took offense to former teammate Harden opining that Dwight Howard and Harden are the Rockets' stars and the rest of the roster is made up of role players.

"I think we'll be fine next season."

During an appearance on the "Jay Mohr Sports" show on Fox Sports Radio, Parsons reacted strongly when told what Harden reportedly said.

"That's a pretty ridiculous statement if he meant that," Parsons said. "That's part of the reason I wanted to go to Dallas, because I'm ready for that next step. I'm ready for a bigger role, and I'm ready for more leadership.

"If anybody should understand that, it's James, because he was in the same situation in Oklahoma City and then he got his chance to come to Houston and shine. I'm not real sure what that means."

Parsons, 25, averaged 16.6 points, 5.5 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game to help Houston win 54 games last season.

In Harden's third NBA season, he averaged 16.8 points, 4.1 rebounds and 3.7 assists as Oklahoma City's third option behind Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook. Harden's statistics shot up to 25.9 points, 4.9 rebounds and 5.8 assists per game in his first season after being traded to the Rockets.

This isn't the first time that Parsons has publicly acknowledged being bothered by comments coming from his former team. He was "offended" by Rockets general manager Daryl Morey's opinion that the Rockets were better off not exercising the right to match the Mavs' offer for Parsons because it would have prevented Houston from having the flexibility to add the star needed to complement Harden and Parsons.

"We feel strongly that turning down Chandler's option gives us a better chance to win a championship than not turning it down," Morey said on Sports Talk 790 AM in Houston the day after Parsons officially became a Maverick. "It really comes down to the question of, Harden, Howard, Chandler, what chance does that [core] have a chance of winning a championship?"

I don't get the hype with this dude.

He's going to be making 15 million next year, Dirk 8 million.

If he doesn't put up no 1, or at least 1a or 1b numbers next season?

If he doesn't get them into the playoffs and the second round at least?

He'd be a bum.

I'll give him props for him having the confidence, but I'm sure he didn't face any double teams in houston.

Hell naw he didn't face double teams. I can see why Parson's mad at the Rockets & Harden but he better be careful for what he wish for. I think Parsons has reached his ceiling in regads to his talent. This is gonna be a good rivalry next season, Dallas made some good moves this off season.

Dog Parsons played 4 years of college basketball and is in year 4 of the NBA. At this stage of the game he is who he is.

They been gassing him up out here

He gonna average like 18 and 6 next season

Probably around the same as Dirk who trying to take on a reduced role

The reason he making that money cuz Dirk took less so the numbers balance out

But the Rockets got to put up or shut up too here

They added Ariza but other than that what??

You can't tell me they got better this offseason

The Mavs have

Now how much better remains to be seen this could all be irrelevant and we could be taking about 4-6th seed playoff fodder teams in the west right now

man Houston arguing with the Mav's and the spurs won the championship..... The texas triangle is going to be interesting next year

Yep I can't see him getting that much better as a player

His numbers may look a little better in Dallas as Dirk tries to take a step back but you would swear we actually got the superstar they been searching for since the team got blown up with the Parsons talk going on out here right now

I'm not drinking that Kool aid just know we will be better him him and Tyson Chandler than we were with a Marion and Dalembert

That's all I know.

Cats down here wondering what the fuck the big deal is - not like Harden lied. Chandler was nice, just not $15M nice. For that matter, if bitches didn't love his Justin Timberlake ass, this whole deal would have been page 6. Fits and spurts on O and no D to speak of... I wish homeboy well, but Cuban just gassed his ass up something fierce and now he got diarrhea of the mouth. Interesting to see how Dirk feels after next season when he unassed all that cheese and Parsons doesn't even average 15/5. Dumb ass Nazi.

He's right, but why even say that

And can Harden step up in the playoffs

I agree with the step up in the playoffs part.......

Real talk.....

Harden has been the incredible shrinking man in the playoffs for most of his career........

Man that is basically the entire Rockets team except #2 and #12..........

Hey cad did you complain when Dirk was making top money but wasn't winning shit? Dude was making all them retarded face shots but getting that ass waxed. If not for Lebron fucking up he wouldn't have a damn ring.

Is harden a true star though? He's a hell of an offensive player but he damn sure ain't playing no D. Does he do anything else good other than score

Dirk was winning plenty(including all his playoff series vs the rockets) and accomplished plenty

He deserved every red cent he made

You can argue that harden is the best 2 guard in the league.....

But that's like saying he's the tallest midget, because that position is rather weak now.

I think that if he pulls his head out of his ass and ATTEMPTS to play defense he'll be fine. With Ariza they now can hide him a little better because you got 2 good wing defenders and Howard protecting the rim. Honestly I don't think he'll ever put any effort into playing defense. Much like Parsons he is who he is.

You're exactly right here. Harden AND Howard both came out they mouth with that fly shit now you gotta back it up. The Texas triangle will be SUPER heated next year so i expect that thread to be live when we play

As far as getting better i think you guys are severely overestimating the contributions that Parsons, Lin, and asik made to this team. Lin was inconsistent this whole season and pretty much his entire tenure with us. Parsons is good offensively but let's not act like he's leaps and bounds better than Ariza. They're pretty much the same player except one is a few years older and makes half the money. I can pull their stats but they are a wash. The only person I'll miss is Asik, even though he was butt hurt and pouting for half the season because of Howard coming in. He did play good ball when he played but he didn't want to be here and was begging to be traded behind closed doors.

We have lots of YOUNG GUYS that are going to play well for us this year. Nick Johnson will get PT because not only is he super talented and can play both guard positions, that's Dennis Johnson's nephew. that leads me to believe that McHale will have a vested interest in his success. Isiah Canaan is the same as a Aaron Brooks, a shoot first offensive threat at the PG position. Montejuanas (sp?) was first team summer league, a 7 footer that plays in the post aggressively and can shoot the 3. Plus we signed our first round pick to a 4 year deal.

It looks like we've stayed the same because we lost knowns in this league and will now be leaning on unknowns for support and contributions to the team success. But judging by what I know about Ariza and what I have seen in summer league play this year we won't miss either of those guys.

Real talk, I don't follow Basketball whatsoever and had no idea who Chandler Parson's was.BUT from this quote, I KNEW dude had to be white. I was right.

parsons won't live up to those check neither :smh:

Parsons can ball man, he had a better fg percentage than Hardeen in the playoffs, and will get alot of looks on the Mavericks with that deadly Ellis/Dirk pick n roll. But for sure Tyson will have to cover up for his defensive inefficiencies

ka-boom! the nba is about both ends of the court!

I hate these players being labeled, "stars," when they only play one half of the court.

this goes for melo too!

parsons a good player trust me he might not be as talented as harden but at least he plays defense ....plus dallas will be better defensively this year..they got tyson back and a couple of cheap guards :lol: according to dtown

Lol @ Parsons playing defense....

When compared to Harden, Chandler Parsons is a Gary Payton level defender. But in reality he's an average defender and there are stats that back that up.

Man....I've watched a ton of rockets games and llano has as well. Parsons used to get cooked....he's a good player, but $16 mil a year good? Nah man...

Fuck all dat... I wanna see how the other Rockets players feel... especially when Harden said everyone else is just role players. Doesnt mean that it isnt true but u gonna call a player a role player... without them playing their role they wouldnt b shit... ole well .. I wish I was one of the role players I wouldnt b doing shit on the court this year

U do realize that quote was just one line in an entire interview, right?

Shit was taken so out of context it's unreal....

Do you think the article was intended to be sarcasm because if so I agree

Mavs are like hey we couldn't land Lebron, Melo, Chris Paul, Dwight Howard, or Deron Williams but here is Chandler Parsons!

Fans out here especially the CACs are all like :wepraise::dance2::jackoff::cheers:

Don't sleep white boy can shoot his ass off
With training and practice
Boy could easily be a problem
He got the guts.
And he plaYing with dirk
A great shooter
Good jump shots are contagious.
Don't sleep.
And he always wanted more limelight
Wit the rockets but every time he cried for the ball
He rushed his plays. Now he can take his tine

I think that's the big thing. The "white boy" factor is definitely in play here. Same thing with Lin when Mayweather called it out. If Parsons were black the hype level wouldn't be on tilt like it is. But the article wasn't sarcasm. It's not saying that he's gonna necessarily play like James, but RECRUIT like James:

http://www.foxsports.com/southwest/story/chandler-parsons-is-dallas-lebron-071614

Overall I think it Dallas is putting WAY too much on an unproven entity. I wish him the best, but I'm hoping that his mouth didn't write a check his ass can't cash. Kobe said it best..... it's one thing looking at and admiring the great white sharks, but swimming with them mufuccas is a whole other ball game.

Parsons didn't shoot as good a percentage as Trevor Ariza did last year from 3 point land:

Parsons - .370
Ariza - .407

Don't sleep :hmm:
