Tax-paying citizens would agree that inflation is ruining everything. First, it was just gas, but now it’s housing, food, and everything in between that’s under attack.
One man proved that this whole inflation thing is getting out of control by showing how little food he was able to buy with $100. It makes sense given the fact that some grocery stores are charging a whopping $13.99 for Miracle Whip. Yeah, you read that right.
A TikTok user named @austinmutschler gave us even more reason to worry. In a viral TikTok post, Austin compared some coupons from Jack in the Box to test out his theory of burger-flation — the leading cause of brokeness in our country.

Man compares Jack and the Box coupons to see how much prices went up in just three months.

One day, we all woke up to a world where chicken nuggets cost $8.99. Back in my day, you could get a fry, chicken nuggets, and a large sweet tea for less than that. And apparently, Jack in the Box is obviously following in McDonald’s footsteps when it comes to jacking up their prices.
In his video, Austin explains: “Is this weird or does anyone else judge inflation by coupon prices? I just got these Jack in the Box coupons in the mail,” he says in the video.

The ad featured a coupon for two Extreme Sausage Sandwich combos for $12. Austin noted that the exact same coupon was cheaper a few months ago. “Two for $7. Five dollar difference [in] three months.”
He also noted other items that have gone up since the last time he received a mailer from the fast food spot. “There are other things on there too, like the Homestyle Ranch Chicken Club. $11 before, $13 after. This is getting insane.”

In the comment section, other users agreed that fast food prices are going up … and fast. One commenter noted: “10 years ago when I worked at Jack the chicken sandwich coupon was two for $5.”

Austin replied that only a year prior to that, you could get a chicken sandwich and so much more for that price.

“When I was working my first job 11 years ago I would get off at 1 A.M. and go to [Jack in the Box]. I would get two cheap chicken sandwiches and two tacos for $3.27,” Austin replied.
“Man my grandma and I would have weekly hangouts to use these coupons, now it's not even worth it,” another user said.

Is fast food just as expensive as dining in? The internet thinks so.

Someone else noted that McDonald’s and Jack in the Box aren’t the only fast food establishments to start acting brand new. “[Burger King] had their family whopper meal for $13, and in less than a year it's now at $17,” @arturtle_gonzalez wrote.
Given the rapid rise of inflation, it won’t be long before more people ditch the drive-thru.

Brandon Cunningham commented: “I get food [costs] and labor has gone up but at this point, I'll just go to a sit-down restaurant rather than fast food if they're going to charge the same."

Granted, a sit-down restaurant actually requires you to go into a restaurant and sit down. And that’s exactly why fast food establishments will never go out of style.

Shit makes you feel old sometimes..... when I used to work at Dunkin Donuts..... a donut was forty cents....... and a dozen was like $2.50... now it's $9.99

.
You ain't the only one grand kids laugh at me when I tell them Whoppers were a $1 back 97-99, Pizza Hut had all you can eat and Ponderosa Steakhouse had steak meals under $10 which included a full all you can eat buffet. :smh: Let me go sit my old azz down

Need to bring back street vendors and them selling food on the sidewalks.. cheap burgers
With all the fees / costs associated with it, there's no such thing as a cheap street vendor anymore.....

Last Mexican food truck I saw, the burrito / tacos cost more than Chipotle. A burger was $9 and fries were $4......you can get most McDonald's meals for that or less

There’s definitely individuals with cheap eats..$5-$6 and even less depending on what you get.. I damn near have a thread showcasing some street food vendors.. some are cheap and still have good food

Inflation didn't triple in the last 3 months. These companies are price gouging.
Inflation and gouging are tied at the hip, especially the last few years. Sam's Club had some burgers that were $21. Next month shit was $25. :smh:

Since 2020, food is up way more than the inflation they reporting. It's no wonder why our crooked ass government doesn't count food prices in the inflation stats(no matter who the fuck is in office, so no politics for cats to die on a hill for).

Man, I paid $15 for three tacos from a Mexican food truck. Shit was bangin, but fuck all that.

It is one thing to raise the prices but every 2 months or so things keep going up. Some things the price goes up while the quality goes down. It is almost like selling drugs becomes a way of life, and not just for the street dealers but for the government and pharmaceuticals also.

While I agree with this 100%...... you picked the wrong example of price gouging..... beef will be high until well into 2024..... but it's because of drought and the high cost of feed because of it..... ranchers were forced to sell their cattle early because of that.... cattle weighed less.... I posted reports of this months ago as well as forecasts for beef prices to remain high and possibly go higher with any price drops not happening possibly mid 2024

Was just telling my son the other day, was at the drive thru at Wendy's.

My meal came up to $17.

I said we at Wendy's and a meal cost $17.
I said I remember dating your mother back in the 90's, taking her out to nice steak houses and a meal would be $16-17 for a nice steak.

Here I am paying the same at Wendy's?

Things don't cost more, your dollar is worth less and less.
It takes more and more of our worthless US dollar to buy the same goods.

"In earnings call after earnings call, executives made no secret of their strategies.

As gas prices soared, Chevron’s 240% profit spike was part of “the best two quarters the company has ever seen”, prompting a dividend increase and assurances it would keep production low to maintain high prices.
Steel Dynamics profits increased 809%. The company was “not materially affected by inflation” as higher prices “exceeded” increased supply chain costs.
Fertilizer giant Nutrien’s profits shot up by about $1.2bn on “higher selling prices [that] more than offset higher raw material costs and lower sales volume”.
Nike’s 53% profit increase driven by higher prices was only “partially offset” by supply chain and inflationary cost increases.
Keurig-Dr Pepper’s “significant pricing actions” and productivity outpaced inflationary costs, leading to an 83% profit jump.
The analysis found commodity companies trading in oil, timber, rubber, meat, wheat, steel and mining recorded the highest profit increases, while restaurants and retailers saw comparatively lower improvements, or losses. Commodity price spikes reverberate down the supply chain, eventually hitting consumers, noted Martin Schmalz, an Oxford University economist.

The Guardian’s data, he added, objectively shows a massive “transfer of wealth” from consumers, who pay higher prices, to shareholders and investment firms that reap the benefits."

Shit. Wasn't aware of that. Since everything else is up, it blended right in. Another example is pop went from 3.98 to 6.98 in the last few years. Meanwhile, I'm sitting in and inflated piece of property they couldn't wait to raise taxes on.

But notice, other meats are down, way down.... pork.... chicken, even with the shortage created by the avian flu and having to destroy millions of chickens to ensure that it didn't spread..... that was the spike in chicken wings/eggs etc. ... but like you said, a lot of other shit is still up

all it does is encourages mufuckas to steal more shit at the self checkout.......lol
its easier to not scan small food items than it is a 65in tv.
but yeah......i went and bought a bottle of seasoning salt yesterday and that shit was like $4.....i swear that shit was a couple dollars cheaper a few months ago.
The lobster tails have even gotten higher in price,....but the tails have gotten smaller. i still bought it tho.......fuck it.

Locally with the coupon sheets I noticed the largest increases to the A&W prices. They would send out coupon sheets that were valid for 5-6 months. But once stuff like a burger & onion rings for $6 creeped up to $10 ... fuck all that.

McD’s used to have their buy one, get one free coupons. They have set prices on those now - like get 2 for X amount.

Tim Horton’s hardly ever sends out coupons but stays hugely popular.

Burger King and Wendy’s still seem fair with their prices when I look af their coupons mailed out.

Subway hardly ever mails out coupons anymore. They used to send them nearly every quarter.

Don't know what Costco you go to, but all the Costcos around here are in white areas..... and even there..... someone watches everyone in the self-checkout.... at each one in use..... to help and to stop the stealing in that way
sidebar: no way the dude at the door checking your receipt and "allegedly" counting items is actually doing that, I've watched them..... and as busy as they are there are only two lines to leave.... besides, I wouldn't want the embarassment of getting caught and losing my membership, not worth it
