SAN JOSE, Calif. – Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero won the World Boxing Council (WBC) Interim Welterweight World Championship with a unanimous decision victory over previously undefeated Selcuk Aydin in front of a hometown crowd at HP Pavilion in San Jose.

Guerrero (30-1-1, 18 KO’s) built an early lead over the Turkish Aydin (23-1, 17 KO’s), who rallied with his powerful right hand in the middle and later rounds, but Guerrero, who fought with a second wind in the championship rounds, had built a steady lead and won by scores of 117-11 and 116-112 (twice).

"I'm looking for the best fights," Guerrero said. "It's just about getting these guys in the ring. I'm the mandatory to Floyd [Mayweather Jr.] now. Let's make it happen."

"I felt great at welterweight. I wanted to fight the best and that's why I fought Selcuk. No one in the division wanted to fight him. He's been avoided. I came in and took care of business. I believe in my talents and I boxed and used my skills tonight

There's a lot of guys at 147 and guys at 140 who can fight at 147 for Guerrero to actually beat before he starts talking Mayweather. Floyd and Manny had to beat some real fighters (quality wins and big name wins) before they got Oscar so everyone should have to follow that path.

Funny how, a dude who hadn't fought in over a year, and beats a no name, is now trying to invoke the sanctioning bodies manadatory BS to get a big money fight! I guess he hasn't caught on that Floyd is a 'little' bit bigger than the sanctioning body, and doesn't really give to shits about defending the belt against a no name... He can make more money by telling the body to go Fuck themselves... I hate when Dudes try to jump to the head of the line on some BS... :smh: Damn fight would sell about 17 ppvs...

The funny part is that I wasn't even impressed by this performance. How you fight a guy that isn't on anyone's radar, that guy makes it into a fight and then pull this?

Delusional, but we knew this from before when he hadn't even fought a welter at all.
