A bit of competition for the brotha (Jamal Hartwell/Neo-Soul Keys), I see.
I want that collection though. I'm gonna go on and get a portable solid state HD.
So this is the newest simulator out? Haven't heard of it.
That was a fun video. Greg's ear is impeccable. Extra cool knowing that he was the original keyboardist on some of those classics.
It's a couple years old, but for me it puts things in context to hear the famous songs they came from being played with the library.

I forgot what he said on the podcast but it was mostly praise , except for the parts where he got jerked. I remember the Quincy Jones and Michael Jackson parts the most, but shit. Stevie ain't perfect. Anyone in business long enough has SOMEBODY they didn't do all the way right. I slightly remember one part where he said Stevie couldn't play singing that he could. That happens. It ain't a bad thing
To me, the way he said it was real snarky; as if to minimize Stevie. Again, that's just the way it came off to me.
Stevie came up with the structure of the song, Michael Sembello came up with the riff on guitar. Greg followed him on keys cause he was better than Stevie. Fine.
But to tell it 40 years later like, "I played that......cause Stevie COULDN'T!"
C'mon, that's wack shit that's said for old foes, not friends.
It wouldn't have been hard to just end the sentence with, "I actually played the key riffs on Contusion."
Again, just my take on it.
We KNOW Mike did him dirty. Saying Stevie did the same is just speculation under the rule of "well, he must've done something."
All that aside, he's a really talented musician. I enjoyed this video a lot.

That's why people hire him. I really thought Greg meant his comment lightheartedly. I didn't think it was out and out disrespect. I just thought it was lite shade. Shade hidden behind what I call the "artistic laugh."
You know, the laugh that creatives share when passing off to one another. The cool, but pointless shared chuckle that happens when one dancer finishes their move in the circle and the next person starts theirs. Guy does a 8 bar solo, craps out and starts that same 'hee hee hee' with others. You know it when it happens and it's just an unspoken gesture of communication.
Well that "laugh" also masks subtle shade too. It's not malicious. It's just a way for some to say certain shit without appearing to have animosity or be jealous of something.

Exactly. He doesn't have to play AND sing like Stevie , make beats, and write lyrics. I'm. Sure he does all that but , not like Stevie. But when it comes to sitting down on them keys and making them sing, that's HIS THING. Nobody can fuck with him on that, and part of what drives him is wanting to be the best. And what comes with being the best at something? Sometimes shitting on even your friend a lil bit. Stevie knows what's up. Competition.

Yes and no, in my opinion.
Jamal's VSTs are are made with musicians like me in mind.
I'm primarily a gospel/neo-soul/R&B/etc. keyboardist - and when I heard what Jamal had, I forgot about Omnisphere, KeySpace, etc.
Doobie Powell also got some fire, too.
I hear you about Jamal.
I don't have Keyscape. But I'm assuming that it doesn't have the same degree of edibility that NSK or Pure Synth does.
You and I are similar, stylistically. When I've played for church, NSK, MK Sensations, Pure Synth and FM Tines stayed in the rotation.
To be fair to Keyscape, PianoTeq, etc, etc., they can probably do a lot more - but, if I'm just looking to pull it out the box, plug and play - nothing is going to give me what I'm looking for like Jamal's products.
Facts.
Jamal has also been very responsive when I had an issue. I’m more on the production/songwriting side and dabble in sound design. In that, I tend to look more for ‘just that right sound’ for particular songs. So Jamal’s stuff has been great for that.
V-Tines has a great Rhodes sound. Have you checked that out?

I just came across a VST called 'Phase Plant' that's about to fuck shit up.
I was a HUGE hardware synth dude, but outside of the fact that hardware will likely never be able to keep up with a desktop or a laptop in terms of how much it can store, and ultimately the capability that extra storage and 'horsepower' allows for - there is also a matter of, a new VST/plugin could cost me 500 dollars - but to buy any new flagship workstation is running me AT LEAST 3500, in most cases.
Yep. It makes less and less sense to buy a workstation synth these days, when you can get so much out of a computer, software and a decent keyboard controller. I'll check out Phase Plant. Here's V-Tines:
