A violent crime wave in Chicago has promped a call for the National Guard to step in. But,
some say no. So far this year, 113 homicides have been reported in Chicago.

Two Illinois lawmakers are urging Governor Pat Quinn to deploy national guard troops to help quell
the surge in violence:

Fritchey has said, "We're not talking about rolling tanks down the street," "If we bring them in to fill sand bags and pick up tornado debris, we can bring them in to save lives."

While some may believe the Guard is the solution, Chicago Police Supt. Jody Weis disagrees. Weis says the Guard's military training falls short of the criminal laws and procedures that police must follow in combating crime. “I’m not that mixing the National Guard with local law enforcement is the solution," Weis said.​

This is why the Arizona immigration law is not just a kneejerk racist reaction. Drug and gangs violence is real and it's spreading. It was just a generation ago when people slept with their windows open, kids played in the streets, old people sat on the porch, now you get killed doing those things. It's not going to happen but the govt needs to go back to Iran Contra and see exactly what role did the CIA play in putting drugs in Black and Latino communities. Then see if any govt agencies are still involved in the drug trade. Next take a serious look at legalizing all drugs for at least a few years so the effects can be studied. Not going to happen but something drastic needs to be done.

Martial Law in Chicago????? I have a better solution how about they let the citizens put to use their 2nd Amendment rights against those thugs/criminals. Why is it that the citys with the toughest gun laws have more crime than the citys that let their citizens bear arms freely like the Constitution states.

I guess you are unfamiliar with the gun crime rate of Houston and Dallas as well as all of the southern big cities that are free wheeling with gun laws. New York and Boston are among the safest cities period and they have the toughest gun laws.

Describing the drug trade and it's gang related violence as American vs American gun crime is confusing because those are drug wars in the streets. The drugs come from Latin America and they are brought here by illegal immigrants. It's anything but American gun crime. I say that because we had relatively safe communities before the drugs arrived
